Nghe An people warmly welcome the Thong Nhat train

On the evening of April 30, when the clock struck 11:04 p.m., Vinh station was brightly lit and filled with cheers as the Thong Nhat train - a special journey - officially arrived at Vinh station.

Passengers from all over the country got off the train in the warm embrace of Nghe An people, amidst the brilliant red flag with yellow star.

The Reunification train numbered SE4 departed from Saigon Station at 7:00 p.m. on April 29 and traveled for more than 30 hours along the S-shaped strip of land. This was not only a journey but also a journey through history, marking the 50th anniversary of the country's complete reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

With the theme “Reunification Train – Connecting the country, spreading love”, the program is organized by Vietnam Railways Corporation, in coordination with many localities along the North-South route.

As soon as the train stopped at Vinh station, Ms. Pham Thi Tuyet Nhung, a passenger on the train, emotionally shared: “In my 60 years of life, this is the first time I have experienced the feeling of traveling on such a meaningful train, coming to the beloved Central region on a historic day. I am truly proud and moved. Nghe An people welcomed us with all their hearts.”

The atmosphere at the station was already bustling, with careful preparation from Vinh station and related units. Youth volunteer teams, security forces, and railway officials were busy guiding passengers off the train, while creating favorable conditions for the elderly, children, and people with disabilities.

Mr. Cao Ngoc Tuan, Station Manager of Vinh Railway Station said: “Vinh Station is honored to be one of the stops of the historic Thong Nhat train. This is an opportunity for us to show our hospitality and remind the younger generation of the sacred value of peace and national unity.”

Under the late night lights, Vinh train station seemed to never sleep. Handshakes, hugs, and sobbing calls to each other in the historic days of April, amid the fluttering red flags with yellow stars, all created an unforgettable moment. The Reunification train was not only a means of geographical connection, but also a bond that connected people’s hearts, a vivid symbol of the aspiration for peace, solidarity and development of the Vietnamese people today.

It is known that train SE4 - one of two special trains named "Reunification Train" - departed from Saigon Station at 7:00 p.m. on April 29, 2025, passing through a total of 25 stations along the North-South route. The journey lasted nearly 35 hours, with the final stop at Hanoi Station at 5:40 a.m. on May 1.

During the journey, train SE4 stopped at many major stations such as Nha Trang, Dieu Tri, Da Nang, Hue, Dong Hoi... and arrived at Vinh Station - an important transit point in the North Central region at 23:04 on the night of April 30. This is one of the special highlights of the journey, marking the convergence of emotions between the glorious past and the bright present on the traditional station.

Also on this special occasion, to express gratitude to those who have contributed to the revolution, from April 24 to May 9, the Railway industry will reduce 40% of train tickets for passengers who are: War invalids, people who enjoy policies such as war invalids, sick soldiers, veterans, and relatives of people who have contributed to the revolution.
