The road bridge project across the Red River bordering Bat Xat (Vietnam) - Ba Sai (China) is an important project with a total investment of 1,500 billion VND.

The bridge construction site is located at Ban Vuoc border gate, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province, about 700m downstream of milestone 97 (2) of the Red River. This is the fourth bridge built in the Lao Cai border gate economic zone (Ho Kieu Bridge I, II, Kim Thanh Bridge).

The road bridge was started to be built as a result of the implementation of the Agreement between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the People's Republic of China on the joint construction of a road bridge across the Red River in the border area of ​​Bat Xat, Lao Cai province (Vietnam) - Ba Sai, Yunnan province (China), Lao Cai province (Vietnam) and Yunnan province (China).

Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh, Permanent Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee delivered the opening speech at the ceremony.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh affirmed: Lao Cai authorities determined that the investment in the construction of this bridge is very important and necessary, not only to connect the transport infrastructure between the two countries but also to affirm the role of the trade gateway of Lao Cai province on the Kunming - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh economic corridor; the center of economic trade connection between Vietnam and ASEAN countries with the Southwest region of China. When the bridge is completed, it will contribute to Lao Cai's development to be worthy of being the "growth pole" of the Northern Midlands and Mountains region, a "bridge" connecting Vietnam with the vast Southwest region of China; creating momentum to promote economic development between the two provinces of Lao Cai - Yunnan as well as between the two countries of Vietnam and China.
