Spiritual "food"

In the atmosphere of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), Quyet Thang Kindergarten, Ung Hoe commune (Ninh Giang) has just organized a meaningful and solemn activity "Celebrating the great victory of spring 1975".

At the ceremony, the children and teachers reenacted the historic moment of the nation when they played the role of armed forces, militia, guerrillas, workers, and young people bravely entering and taking control of Saigon. Immediately after that was a parade, showing off the strength of the future young generation. The atmosphere of the ceremony took place majestically and solemnly, witnessed by many delegates and parents.

At the end of the program, the school's Board of Directors organized a "Unified Meal - Connecting Love" with the participation of more than 200 children from 4 grades. The children enjoyed many dishes cooked by the school's chefs and teachers.

Nearly 1,000 students at Thanh Mien Town Primary School organized a word formation contest to celebrate the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

"We are very happy that the school organizes meaningful activities to help children immerse themselves in the sacred moments of the country. Through these activities, the children understand more clearly about the struggle for national liberation and the heroic sacrifices of previous generations. From there, they further cultivate their love for their homeland and country," said parent Vu Thi Hoai Thu.

Every year on April 30, the Headmaster of Thanh Mien Town Primary School organizes activities towards the national reunification day. This year, exactly half a century after liberation, the activities were organized on a larger scale. The entire schoolyard was dyed red by student uniforms printed with the national flag. Nearly 1,000 students from 5 grades lined up neatly, attentively listening to the historical significance of the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign. In particular, to the background of the song "Like having Uncle Ho on the happy day of great victory", the students also lined up in the words "April 30" and "I love Vietnam".

"The activities to celebrate the liberation of the South and national reunification have become spiritual food for students every April 30th. Through the activities, we hope that students will have more determination to excel in their studies and take control of their future. This is an opportunity to educate students about patriotism," said teacher Vu Thi Hoai Huong, Principal of Thanh Mien Town Primary School.

Back to the roots

Every year, April 30th is considered by many people as the national unification festival. On these days, many families often organize reunion meals. In a warm atmosphere, everyone enjoys traditional dishes and shares emotions, memories, and strengthens family ties.

Mr. Nguyen Van Truc (30 years old) in Ninh Giang district said that his grandfather sacrificed in the South Central battlefield, and his grave has not been found yet. Every year, in addition to the death anniversary and War Invalids and Martyrs Day, his family also cooks a meal on April 30 to show gratitude and remember the previous generation. The meal is not only a place for family reunion but also reminds each member of the value of peace.

"Over the years, my family has always tried to preserve traditional beauty for our children and grandchildren to follow. On this day, we often go to the cemetery to burn incense for the martyrs who heroically sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and reunification. At noon, family members will cook a meal together to worship their ancestors and celebrate the day of national reunification," Truc shared.

Reunification Day is an opportunity for everyone to temporarily put aside the hustle and bustle of life and return to their families. At the end of April, Mr. Pham Duc Phuc from Ky Son commune (Tu Ky) traveled thousands of kilometers from Japan to return to his hometown on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South. On this important day of the nation, he and his family organized a reunion dinner after many days apart.

According to Mr. Phuc, his hometown has always been a spiritual support for him to have more determination to strive in business. This trip back home is even more meaningful because it falls on the occasion of a national holiday. Mr. Phuc and his family watched the parade and march to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country on the small screen and had a reunion meal together in national pride.
