The above content has just been proposed by the Department of Transport of Khanh Hoa province in the plan to approve the contractor selection plan to prepare for the project to build a tunnel through Cu Hin mountain.

The tunnel will connect the section from Song Lo, Phuoc Dong commune (Nha Trang city) to Cam Hai Dong commune (Cam Lam district). This plan will help avoid frequent landslides on the pass, which poses a risk to traffic safety.

The locality has proposed three options for building the tunnel. Option 1 is a 5.7km route with a 4.2km tunnel. Option 2 is a 5.6km route with a 4.8km tunnel. Both options have their starting and ending points connecting Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in Nha Trang City and Cam Lam District.

The remaining option is 6km long, the tunnel is 3.7km long. The starting point is on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in Nha Trang City, the end point connects Vinh Binh - Cu Hin Street.

The Department of Transport proposed to choose option 1. This option has a total investment of 2,600-4,000 billion VND depending on the scale of construction of 2 tunnels or 1 tunnel with 1 shelter.

When put into operation, the tunnel through the mountain is expected to shorten about 10km of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street running close to the sea at Cu Hin Pass.

Currently, the Department of Transport has assigned the Provincial Traffic Works Maintenance Management Board to select contractors to carry out survey consulting packages, prepare pre-feasibility study reports, and provide advice on preparing documents for forest use conversion policies, environmental impact assessment reports, etc.
