Boost from 2 international airports

The world has witnessed many successful airport urban models, contributing greatly to the development of national economy, trade and tourism.

In Vietnam, the groundbreaking of Long Thanh International Airport in January 2021 has created new growth momentum for the Southern Key Economic Zone, especially when the regional transport system including modern railways and highways is increasingly being improved. This helps shorten travel time and enhance the ability to attract tourists to tourist destinations.

Khanh Hoa, a famous tourist destination in Vietnam, promises to become an attractive choice for international visitors. With a convenient transportation system, especially the completed Long Thanh - Dau Giay - Khanh Hoa expressway, the connection between Long Thanh airport and Khanh Hoa is now easier and faster.

Cam Ranh International Airport - the 4th busiest and most modern airport in Vietnam is located in Khanh Hoa. Up to now, this airport has cooperated with 22 airlines, connected 50 routes, served about 300,000 flights, welcomed nearly 60 million passengers and handled and transported about 145,000 tons of cargo.

Cam Ranh Airport has 2 spacious and modern terminals, serving domestic and international passengers separately. The airport is also equipped with 2 level 4E runways and a new aircraft parking system with 33 parking positions, capable of serving wide-body aircraft such as: Airbus A350, Boeing 787, Boeing 777.         

According to the national airport system planning for the 2021-2030 period approved by the Prime Minister, Cam Ranh airport is oriented to develop into a level 4E airport with an expected design capacity of about 25 million passengers per year with an estimated investment cost of more than VND 23,700 billion.

The expansion of Cam Ranh International Airport is considered an important strategy for Khanh Hoa to maximize its tourism potential and become an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists. Cam Ranh area plays the role of the main gateway, making Khanh Hoa become the center of investment attraction in tourism and resort real estate.

Ideal destination for international tourists

As the gateway to more than 80% of international visitors to Vietnam, aviation plays a key role in expanding the international tourism market. Thanks to increasingly complete aviation infrastructure, Khanh Hoa has developed strongly in recent years with the number of international visitors to the coastal city increasing rapidly. This not only enhances Khanh Hoa tourism but also helps this place gradually become an international tourist city.

According to the provincial Department of Tourism, Khanh Hoa's goal in 2024 is to welcome 9 million overnight guests, including 3 million international visitors. However, due to the high number of tourists, Khanh Hoa reached the target 3 months early. By the end of September, the province had welcomed 9 million overnight guests; including 3.6 million international visitors, an increase of 147.9% over the same period in 2023 and exceeding the 2024 plan by 20%. From now until the end of the year, Khanh Hoa's tourism industry strives to welcome 1 to 2 million more visitors, bringing the total number of visitors in the year to 10 to 11 million.

With a stable number of international visitors arriving at Cam Ranh airport, with nearly 35 flights from Korea, China, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Malaysia, etc. landing every day, Khanh Hoa tourism industry has a solid foundation to achieve this goal. The positive growth rate, combined with the expansion of Cam Ranh airport, promises to help Khanh Hoa receive more international visitors, thereby promoting the development of resort tourism and opening up many new investment opportunities for the province.

Khanh Hoa is preparing for a breakthrough development phase in the tourism sector, with an increase in flights and international visitors. Evidence of the development is the launch of the CaraWorld Cam Ranh urban area, which is oriented to become an attractive destination for international tourists when possessing the advantage of a location close to Cam Ranh International Airport. The project promises to be the heart of the city, the center of vibrant entertainment - recreation - resort with 38 well-invested major utilities.

To attract more international visitors, Khanh Hoa province is actively working with countries to connect international flights directly to Cam Ranh airport. It is expected that in early 2025, there will be a direct flight from Poland to Cam Ranh. At the same time, the province continues to promote the opening of other direct flights, improve the quality of services at airports, seaports and accommodation facilities, in order to build Khanh Hoa into an attractive destination for international tourists.
