The community art performance program , the Scarf Dance, is part of a series of cultural and sports activities with the theme of Uncle Ho's City Colors, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). The performance, with the participation of thousands of people including artists, actors and a large number of people, will be performed on the evening of April 30, at the headquarters of the People's Council and People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and along Nguyen Hue walking street.

In the event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification, the symbol of the checkered scarf appeared not only as a typical cultural mark of the South, but also with a sacred, profound meaning of history and gratitude. Through each historical period, the checkered scarf has become a typical image of the resilient, indomitable spirit of the people of the Southern land. To this day, the checkered scarf is still present in modern life as a source of pride, a cultural symbol rich in identity and humanity, connecting the heroic past with the dynamic, creative, friendly and affectionate present.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tan Kiet, general director of the series of cultural and artistic activities with the theme of Colors of Uncle Ho's City, the community art performance called the Scarf Dance has profound content, with folk melodies mixed with modern beats, like the proud breath and passionate love of the people of the South for their homeland and country.

"After this festival, we hope that the work "Vu Hoi Khan Ran" will be loved by the people and will become a community folk dance work. We hope that everyone will spread the work into social life, becoming a performance with a unique message about Southern and Vietnamese culture, used in all cultural activities and international exchanges," director Nguyen Tan Kiet shared.

This performance is part of the series of festivals "Colors of Bac City".

The director added that many musicians are currently researching the harmony and arrangement of the Scarf Dance in many different styles, which will contribute to enriching and spreading the work in social life. Musicians Duc Tri, Tien Dat, Duong Khac Linh, Minh Vy, choreographers Tran Tuan, Doan Trinh and many young choreographers are also making creative efforts to contribute to diversifying the musical nuances of the work.

The Scarf Dance will open the art programs, sports performances, amateur music, a parade of flower lanterns on the Saigon River and an impressive fireworks display on the night of April 30.
