World gold prices fell more than 2% in the session on April 7, as investors turned to holding the US dollar as a safe haven after the US's sweeping tariff policy raised concerns about a global economic recession.
At 00:36 on April 8, Vietnam time, the price of spot gold fell 2.4% to $2,963.19/ounce, after hitting a nearly four-week low of $2,955.89/ounce earlier in the session. The price of US gold futures closed down 2% at $2,973.60/ounce.
On the afternoon of April 7, in the domestic market, Saigon Jewelry Company SJC listed the price of gold bars at 97.1-100.1 million VND/tael (buy-sell).
