Episode 4 of the program “English Window” season 2 – broadcast at 9:25 p.m. on April 27 on HTTV channel of Ha Tinh Newspaper brought a dramatic competition between two teams from Nguyen Tuan Thien Secondary School (Huong Son) and Bac Hong Secondary School (Hong Linh Town).

This was the first time Nguyen Tuan Thien Secondary School participated in this competition, but the students showed their confidence and bravery right from the first round - "Quick eyes". With 10 questions requiring the arrangement of jumbled letters into meaningful English words, both teams excellently completed all 10 questions. In which, Nguyen Tuan Thien Secondary School temporarily took the lead with 6 correct questions (30 points), slightly better than Bac Hong Secondary School with 4 correct questions (20 points).

The second round – “Quick mind” – is a stage for teams to demonstrate their English presentation skills, creative thinking and personal opinions.

Nguyen Tuan Thien Secondary School Team chose the topic “Time management – ​​the secret to balancing study and entertainment”. Nguyen Ba Tan (class 7A) – the youngest member of the team – gave a convincing presentation. Tan emphasized that one of the most effective time management techniques is to prioritize and complete the most important tasks first. In addition, it is necessary to create a study schedule. Finally, it is to find a balance between study and entertainment.

On behalf of Bac Hong Secondary School, Nguyen Ngoc Tue (class 8B) delivered an impressive presentation on the topic “Active learning and how to become an active learner”. Ngoc Tue mentioned Circular 29 dated December 30, 2024 of the Ministry of Education and Training on extra teaching and learning – effective from February 14, 2025 – as evidence of the importance of self-study. She also shared effective learning methods such as: asking questions, being self-aware, proactive and actively participating in discussions.

At the end of this competition, both teams were highly appreciated by the judges and received an equal score of 28. Total score after two competitions: Nguyen Tuan Thien Secondary School continued to lead with 58 points, followed by Bac Hong Secondary School with 48 points.

In the final round – “Quick hands”, the teams took turns opening 6 pieces of a picture through 6 questions. Nguyen Tuan Thien Secondary School answered 2 questions correctly, earning 20 more points. Meanwhile, Bac Hong Secondary School excellently answered 3 questions correctly, scoring 30 more points and equalizing the score with the other team.

The climax was pushed to the 40-point mystery crossword question: “Which ocean is the largest on Earth?”. As soon as the host finished reading the question, the Bac Hong Secondary School team quickly rang the bell and gave the correct answer: “The Pacific Ocean”.

The correct answer helped the Bac Hong Secondary School team gain 40 more points, making a spectacular comeback to win the final with 118 points - not only winning a ticket to the quarter-finals but also setting a record for the highest score up to now in season 2 of the program "English Window".
