Inspired by the legend of Chu Dong Tu, one of the four "Immortal" Saints of Vietnamese culture, beliefs and consciousness (along with Tan Vien Son Thanh, Phu Dong Thien Vuong and Mau Lieu Hanh), the movie "Huyen Tinh Da Trach" recreates one of the beautiful love stories passed down through generations of Vietnamese people.

The film recreates a living space of ancient Vietnamese people from the love story of Princess Tien Dung, daughter of King Hung, and poor young man Chu Dong Tu on the banks of the Red River. Through historical documents, folklore and archeology, the film is also a book that uses the language of cinema to tell about a historical period that still needs much exploration by the country's research community.

The story of Tien Dung and Chu Dong Tu not only carries the original meaning of the struggle for class equality but also symbolizes the pioneering spirit and the aspiration to rise up, develop and prosper of the ancient Vietnamese people. The film is also a vision of the journey from the early days of the ancient Vietnamese community, about the work of creating and protecting the living space and development of the residents of the Northern Delta, in which Chu Dong Tu is also the patron saint of commerce, with great merit in leading the people of the Northern Delta.

The film is currently in the process of selecting actors nationwide, with the goal of finding young talents and new faces for cinema from all over the country.

The film is scheduled to start filming in July with studios in several locations in the North. The film’s sets will be elaborately and authentically constructed and will remain intact after the project is completed, becoming a cultural and tourist attraction to serve the community and visitors. This will be a cultural destination that contributes to spreading Vietnamese cultural values.

“The Legend of Da Trach” harmoniously combines folk legends about Chu Dong Tu-Tien Dung and historical and cultural elements, creating an epic about the transformation of ancient Vietnamese people, about one of the Vietnamese Saints in a real land - Da Trach lagoon, today's Khoai Chau, Hung Yen.

Besides the love story of Tien Dung and Chu Dong Tu, the film "The Legend of Da Trach" is also a story of conflicts between conservatism and reform, as well as political-military challenges from foreign powers that the Van Lang state had to face. And above all is the resilient spirit, the desire for peace, prosperity and the bravery of the nation always towards peace and harmony.

“The Legend of Da Trach” is not only a film project, but also a concrete action in participating in the spirit and values of national culture, contributing to realizing the strategy of developing cultural industry according to the direction of the Central Government and Hanoi City.
