"Some parents say, 'My child is very well-behaved at home, and his Facebook account is also very healthy, just studying and traveling with his family. But now many students have 2 or more accounts on Facebook. They have used fake accounts to insult, slander, and criticize others on social networks...'"

That is the sharing of expert Dao Le Tam An - PhD student in Psychology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, at the program "Preventing school violence - Building a safe and friendly learning environment" organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper in collaboration with Nguyen Du Secondary School (District 1 - Ho Chi Minh City); Phuong Nam Education Investment and Development Joint Stock Company.

At the exchange, many students raised their hands to confirm that they used multiple social networks at the same time such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram,... and had 2 or more accounts on 1 social network.

Expert Dao Le Tam An analyzed: "The 6 current forms of online bullying are: Impersonation, stalking, threatening, spreading and cheating, defamation, boycotting. Online bullying is different from traditional school violence in that: you don't know who is bullying you. Sometimes it's just a normal problem in life, students rush into an argument with each other. Then they insult, put down, and curse each other. Arguing doesn't distinguish between winning and losing, students make an appointment to meet directly outside and fight."

Expert Dao Le Tam An gives advice to students: "For messages that insult you, press on them and report them as harassing or hateful messages. If messages keep coming in from many different people, you need to tell your parents and turn off the screen, not reading anymore. If you continue to read those messages, it will negatively affect your emotions."

School violence from online groups

Student groups and clubs are appearing more and more, especially recently when there is an anonymous interaction mode, many of them do not hesitate to mock and bully their classmates.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Cuong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper , said that school is where students develop their qualities and abilities, where students come to school with a comfortable, happy, confident, loving teachers and friends. However, it is very possible that in some corner there is a student who is nervous and anxious after receiving a message implying a fight. There are students who silently endure this fear alone, unable to share it with anyone.

Understanding that situation, Tuoi Tre Newspaper has cooperated with Phuong Nam Education Investment and Development Joint Stock Company to compile the book series "Skills to respond to school violence". The book series includes 2 books: Skills to respond to school violence for high school students and Skills to respond to school violence for primary school students.

"This is an effort by Tuoi Tre Newspaper and a team of experts to join hands in building a safe and friendly learning environment. Victims and perpetrators are all students who need to be educated in character and need to be loved. Not only students who are bullied but also students who bully others need attention and psychological counseling," said Mr. Cuong.
