Since the beginning of the term, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, especially those caused by natural disasters, epidemics and the world economic downturn, with the determination and solidarity of the entire political system, the business community and the people of all ethnic groups in the province, the province's socio-economic development has made many positive marks, with many indicators ranking high compared to other provinces in the region.

The economy continues to maintain a fairly good growth rate. The growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) is maintained and achieved quite well, always being in the group of leading developed provinces in the midland and mountainous region of the North, with an average of 7.55%/year in the 2021-2024 period, estimated at 7.67%/year in the 2021-2025 period, ranking 5th out of 14 provinces in the region. The scale of the economy continues to expand, with GRDP per capita increasing over the years. In 2024, it reached 56.3 million VND, estimated at 61.4 million VND in 2025. In the first quarter of 2025, GRDP reached 9.58%, ranking 5th out of 14 provinces in the region, 12th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide.

Infrastructure continues to receive focused investment; it is expected that in 2025, many key projects will be inaugurated, contributing to the completion of the regional and inter-regional transport system, meeting travel needs and creating momentum for socio-economic development.

There have been many advances in socio-culture. Yen Bai is the 24th province in the country to be recognized as having achieved the standard of universal primary education level 3 and the 18th province in the country to be recognized as having achieved the standard of universal secondary education level 2; People's health care continues to improve, social security and poverty reduction continue to receive attention. By the end of 2024, the poverty rate in the whole province will be 5.68%; in the period of 2021-2024, the whole province has built over 7,400 houses for poor households, near-poor households, and those affected by natural disasters. In 2025, the whole province will eliminate over 2,200 temporary and dilapidated houses in the area. Along with the development of the province, the material and spiritual life of the people of all ethnic groups has also improved significantly.
