Mobilizing all resources to build new houses
April 2025 marked an important milestone for Tay Son district when it completed the goal of eliminating 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households, people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs. 278 spacious and solid houses were newly built and repaired, not only helping people settle down but also adding to their firm belief in the humane policies of the Party and State, accompanying the people.
The emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" has been widely and systematically deployed by Tay Son district. The Steering Committee from the district to communes and towns has proactively participated, organized a thorough review of each beneficiary, mobilized resources from the budget, socialization and preferential loans from the Bank for Social Policies. The total implementation cost is more than 39.5 billion VND, of which the state budget supports 14.1 billion VND, mobilized socialization of nearly 5 billion VND, counterpart capital from the people is more than 17 billion VND and policy loans are more than 3.2 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh, Chairman of Tay Son District People's Committee, shared: "The movement to eliminate temporary houses is not only a social security task but also a symbol of solidarity and humanity of the entire political system and community. The movement does not stop at numbers but also illuminates many humane, emotional stories. A typical example is the family of Mr. Dinh Lach (in Kon Giot 2 Village , Vinh An Commune) who is a poor household. Previously, his dilapidated level 4 house leaked every rainy and stormy season, and the walls peeled off. This year, thanks to the state's support of 60 million VND, the district's support of 20 million VND, and a preferential loan of 100 million VND from the district's Social Policy Bank , his family has built a solid tiled-roof house of more than 60 square meters.
Emotional on the day of the inauguration of the new house, Mr. Lach shared: “Without the support of the government and the people, my family does not know when we would have been able to build this house. From now on, the rain and wind are no longer a fear. We are grateful to the government and the community for helping us change our lives.”
Not only Mr. Lach’s family, but hundreds of other families also enjoy the same joy. New roofs not only help people have a safe place to live but also motivate them to work, produce, and escape poverty sustainably.
Join hands to eliminate temporary housing
To achieve high results, Tay Son district flexibly mobilized many resources in a creative way. Typically, Takao Binh Dinh Joint Stock Company supported construction materials at a 50% discount for 17 households in Binh Thanh commune . Agencies and organizations such as Phu Phong Electricity, Phuong Linh Petroleum Company, Sao Vang 3rd Division, etc. also participated in funding or supporting labor days, directly helping many households build new houses.

Chairman of Tay Son District People's Committee Nguyen Van Khanh emphasized: "Tay Son identifies that settling down is the foundation for people to develop the economy and stabilize their lives. Eliminating temporary housing is the political responsibility and sentiment of the entire political system towards policy beneficiaries, poor households and disadvantaged households. This success is the result of close leadership, drastic participation from the district to the grassroots level and especially the companionship and sharing of the whole society."
According to statistics, all 278 houses were built on schedule, meeting the required solidification standards: hard foundation, hard frame, hard roof with an average area of each house reaching over 60m2 . m² . In addition, many households were also supported with essential items, in which the district mobilized funds to give each family a set of household items including a bed, round table , chair, crow , etc.; bringing the total additional support outside the budget to hundreds of millions of VND.

The movement to eliminate temporary housing in Tay Son also drew many valuable lessons: We must stick to the grassroots, carefully review the subjects, be transparent in approval, mobilize all social resources, and have close cooperation between the government and the people during the implementation process.
Entering a new phase, Tay Son district continues to promote social security programs, focusing on developing livelihoods for poor and near-poor households, helping people not only have solid housing but also have a stable life, aiming at the goal of sustainable poverty reduction.
