Within the framework of the event "Meeting ASEAN in Da Nang in 2025" organized by the City People's Committee in coordination with the ASEAN Department, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic agencies of ASEAN countries in Vietnam, on the afternoon of April 9, at the discussion session with the theme "Strengthening international cooperation, trade and investment between Da Nang and partners", delegates hoped that Da Nang city would create more favorable conditions to promote trade and investment between Da Nang and partners.

Expanding investment areas

Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Vietnam, highly appreciated the increasingly close cooperative relationship between Da Nang and Thai localities.

The Ambassador highly appreciated the potential of Da Nang as it is strategically located, the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) route from Khon Kaen (Thailand) through Laos, to Da Nang port is very convenient. This helps Da Nang become the center of intra-regional trade and commerce.

At the same time, the city's infrastructure has been fully built with international airports and seaports. These are potentials for developing maritime trade and logistics.

Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya said that Thai localities are eager to cooperate with Da Nang to promote development and effectively exploit the EWEC together. Leading enterprises in Thailand are eager to seek more investment opportunities in Da Nang.

Mr. Sidharto R. Suryodipuro, Director General of ASEAN Cooperation Department (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia), Head of SOM ASEAN Indonesia said that Da Nang is one of the big cities in Vietnam and the gateway to the Central region.

In particular, Da Nang tourism is a key development spearhead, as evidenced by the fact that Da Nang is a favorite destination for Indonesians. In 2024, there will be 42,000 Indonesian tourists coming to Da Nang, which will be further promoted through connecting direct flights to Da Nang.

With the achievements in tourism, Mr. Sidharto R. Suryodipuro believes that in the future, we will continue to promote strong tourism cooperation, while expanding in many other fields such as trade, industry, education, etc.

Improve investment environment

With nearly 20 years of investment and business in Da Nang industrial zones, Mr. Khor Kar Buan, General Director of Massda Land Company Limited, expressed his impression of the development of Da Nang city in recent times. At the same time, he affirmed that the enterprise always puts people at the center of all business and development activities.

Mr. Khor Kar Buan hopes that the city will remove difficulties, increase interaction and support with foreign partners and investors, and create opportunities for businesses to speed up investment implementation in Da Nang.

Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh affirmed that over the years, Da Nang has always strived to improve the investment environment and is gradually affirming its position as an attractive, safe and sustainable investment destination in Vietnam through solutions: applying the model of "e-government - digital government" to support investors in shortening the time to handle administrative procedures; modern investment in industrial and high-tech park infrastructure, ready to meet the requirements of strategic investors; supporting human resource training, connecting with educational and training institutions and on-site internship programs.

In particular, Da Nang is the first locality in Vietnam to be allowed to pilot the implementation of a free trade zone project associated with Lien Chieu seaport and establish a regional financial center.

Da Nang City has set the goal of becoming: a major socio-economic center of the Central Highlands and ASEAN region; an international, smart, ecological and livable city; a center of innovation, high technology, logistics and finance of the region.

With the above orientation, Da Nang attaches special importance to cooperation with partners in ASEAN, not only in trade and investment, but also in the fields of culture, education, environment and sustainable development.

Da Nang commits to always accompany and support investors throughout the project implementation process, from accessing information to resolving practical problems; ensuring a transparent, equal and long-term stable investment environment; taking investor satisfaction as a measure of management efficiency.
