Vietnam's Ministry of Defense is ready to receive Polish soldiers to learn Vietnamese.

On the morning of March 24, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, co-chaired a meeting with Polish Deputy Minister of Defense Pawel Bejda during his visit and work in Vietnam.

Persistently pursuing the "four no's" defense policy

At the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien affirmed that Vietnam consistently pursues a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations.

Vietnam persists in its "four no's" defense policy and persistently struggles to resolve all disputes and disagreements by peaceful means on the basis of international law.

Vietnam's consistent stance on resolving the East Sea issue is that relevant parties need to comply with international law and customs, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS); comply with the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), and promote early conclusion of negotiations and signing of the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC) in a practical and effective manner.

Regarding bilateral defense cooperation, Mr. Chien expressed his joy that the two countries have achieved many positive results on the basis of effectively implementing the bilateral defense cooperation agreement signed in 2010.

The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense is ready to receive Polish soldiers to study Vietnamese at the Academy of Military Science and attend international courses at the National Defense Academy.

Vietnam is an important partner of Poland in the Southeast Asia region.

In the coming time, the two sides should focus on consolidating and perfecting the frameworks and mechanisms of bilateral defense cooperation; continue to promote delegation exchanges at all levels to enhance understanding, trust and promote defense cooperation in line with the overall Vietnam-Poland relationship; strengthen cooperation in training; United Nations peacekeeping; defense industry, military medicine, and exchanges of young officers.

Propose that Poland continue to support cooperation activities between Vietnam and the European Union (EU) in the defense sector, in accordance with the framework of the agreement signed between Vietnam and the EU, and call on Poland to voice its support for the EU to soon remove the yellow card on Vietnamese seafood.

Speaking at the meeting, Polish Deputy Minister of Defense Pawel Bejda said that Vietnam is an important partner in the Southeast Asian region, so Poland promotes relations with Vietnam not only in the economic field but also in the defense field, especially defense industry cooperation and United Nations peacekeeping.

The Polish Deputy Minister of Defense also affirmed that through this meeting, the two countries will further develop in the defense field, bringing practical results to all parties.

During the visit, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, received Polish Deputy Minister of Defense Pawel Bejda.

Here, General Phan Van Giang highly appreciated the results of the talks between the two deputy ministers, acknowledging the positive results of bilateral defense cooperation signed in 2010.

In the coming time, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense will direct relevant agencies to continue implementing the agreed contents to promote the defense cooperation between the two countries to be increasingly effective, practical, and in line with the overall relationship between the two countries.

Regarding Polish Deputy Defense Minister Pawel Bejda, he said that at the talks, the two sides agreed to promote cooperation in areas where both sides have potential and need.
