On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), on April 13, Comrade Quan Minh Cuong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation visited and presented gifts to Colonel, Hero of the People's Armed Forces La Van Cau at his private home on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street, Cau Giay District, Hanoi.

Also attending was comrade Le Hai Hoa, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of Cao Bang City Party Committee.

Hero La Van Cau was born in 1932 in Trung Khanh district, Cao Bang province, a Tay ethnic. At the age of 16, at the call of the Fatherland, he volunteered to fight the enemy, achieved many feats, and had the honor of meeting Uncle Ho. He participated in 2 major campaigns with a total of more than 25 battles, of which the battle against Dong Khe fort in the Autumn-Winter Border Campaign from September 16 to 18, 1950 was the most memorable. He was the commander of the Demolition Team tasked with destroying the fence and attacking the bridgehead bunker. When the enemy shot and broke one of his arms, he asked his comrades to cut off his arm to get rid of it, then continued to carry explosives and charge forward, destroying the bridgehead bunker, opening the way for the unit to charge and destroy the enemy. His fighting example encouraged the emulation movement to kill the enemy and gain achievements throughout the army. He was honored to be one of the first 7 soldiers to be awarded the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces"; awarded many noble medals and orders by the Party and State.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Quan Minh Cuong kindly inquired about the health and life of Hero of the People's Armed Forces La Van Cau; expressed respect and gratitude for his great contributions and sacrifices in the resistance war against French colonialism, contributing with our army and people to the historic victory "famous at Dien Bien, shaking the world". Affirming that the heroic and resilient fighting spirit of Hero La Van Cau will forever be a shining example of the spirit of selfless sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and the people.

The Provincial Party Secretary also shared with Hero La Van Cau the general achievements of Cao Bang province in the fields of Party building, socio-economics in the past time; the plans, directions, and tasks that the province is striving to implement in 2025. The Provincial Party Secretary wished Hero of the People's Armed Forces La Van Cau good health, always being a shining example, a source of pride, and a spiritual support for the younger generation to follow.
