On March 14, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, the Secretariat reviewed and disciplined party members who committed violations and shortcomings.

After considering the proposal of the Central Inspection Committee, the Secretariat found that Mr. Hoang Van Thang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Large Dams and Water Resources Development; former member of the Party Executive Committee, former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Rum, former member of the City Party Committee, former Secretary of the Party Committee, former Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City, has degraded in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle; violated Party regulations and State laws in performing assigned duties and tasks, in preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity; violated regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do and the responsibility to set an example, causing very serious consequences, huge losses to the state budget, public outrage, and very negative impacts on the reputation of the Party organization and the agency and unit.

Based on the content, nature, level, consequences, and causes of the violation; according to the Party's regulations on disciplining violating Party members, the Secretariat decided to expel Hoang Van Thang and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Rum from the Party.
