With the determination to eliminate 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025, communes and towns in Muong Khuong district are currently making efforts to overcome difficulties and focus all resources to speed up construction progress.

After only 2 months of construction, the spacious house of Mr. Sung Seo Chan's family in Ta Gia Khau village, Muong Khuong district has gradually come into existence. Although the construction had to be carried out during the rainy season, Mr. Chan's house was still on schedule thanks to the active support of local organizations and unions. Mr. Chan said that with the new house, family members will have more motivation to confidently develop the economy, gradually escaping poverty.

Regarding the results of supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the area, Muong Khuong District Party Secretary Giang Seo Van said that over the past 3 years, through housing support programs and projects, especially the 3 National Target Programs, the entire district has supported the construction and repair of houses for over 700 poor households and households in difficult circumstances. However, the rate of poor and near-poor households in the district is still very high, most of whom do not have stable housing.

The results of the investigation and review of poor and near-poor households according to the multidimensional poverty standard for the period 2022 - 2025 show that the rate of poor and near-poor households in the district is 8,536 households, accounting for about 60.1%. Currently, the total number of temporary houses that must be eliminated under State support is 2,465, of which 2,409 are poor and near-poor households and 54 are meritorious people.

“In order to speed up the implementation progress, recently, the People's Committee of Muong Khuong district coordinated with the district Fatherland Front Committee to organize the launching ceremony of the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" in the district by 2025, to mobilize organizations, businesses, philanthropists and people from all walks of life to support the construction of solidarity houses, eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households in the area" - Mr. Giang Seo Van said.

According to Mr. Van, the goal set by the end of September 2025 is that the entire district will eliminate 2,465 temporary and dilapidated houses. In 2024 alone, the entire district will strive to support the construction of 1,390 houses for poor households and policy households.

With the spirit of the more difficult the more determined, the Party Committee and the government from the district to the grassroots level have been actively coordinating with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations to proactively and carefully review the response capacity and resources of each family to have a specific support plan. For each supported household, in addition to the amount received from the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and organizations also mobilize the community to support labor days and funds to buy materials. After receiving support for new construction or repair, the houses must meet the "3 hard" criteria including hard foundation, hard walls, hard roof, with a minimum durability of 20 years or more for newly built houses and 10 years or more for repaired houses.
