Vietnam-Hungary promote economic, trade and investment cooperation

Ambassador Bui Le Thai assessed that the Comprehensive Partnership between Vietnam and Hungary has developed positively in many fields.

On March 26, Ambassador Bui Le Thai met and worked with Mr. Barna Pal Zsigmond, Deputy Minister, Secretary of State of the Ministry of European Affairs.

At the meeting, Ambassador Bui Le Thai assessed that the Comprehensive Partnership between Vietnam and Hungary has developed positively in many fields of politics-diplomacy, economics-trade, culture-education.

Affirming that the visit to Vietnam by the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Economic Relations from March 18-19 was a great success, the Ambassador believed that the upcoming 10th meeting of the Vietnam-Hungary Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation in Hanoi would propose new measures to promote economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries.

The Ambassador informed about the Embassy's plan to organize activities on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Hungary, including many cultural exchange activities and trade promotion seminars, and hoped that relevant Hungarian agencies would coordinate in organizing them.

Ambassador Bui Le Thai also discussed the foreign relations of the Communist Party of Vietnam, saying that in Hungary the Communist Party of Vietnam has relations with the Socialist Party, the Workers' Party and the ruling Fidesz Party. The Ambassador asked Mr. Barna Pal Zsigmond, in his role in the Fidesz Party leadership, to pay attention to promoting the implementation of the Agreement signed between the two Parties in 2017.

Expressing his delight at the positive developments in Vietnam-Hungary relations in all areas in recent times, Mr. Barna Pal Zsigmond affirmed that the ruling Fidesz Party wishes to strengthen relations with the Communist Party of Vietnam, proposes connections and exchanges between young leaders of the two parties; and will report to the Fidesz Party leadership to soon send a delegation to visit Vietnam.

Regarding cooperation between the two countries, Mr. Barna Pal Zsigmond said that with its Eastward policy, Vietnam is one of Hungary's leading partners in the Asian region.

The Ministry of European Affairs is ready to support Vietnam in lobbying the remaining countries in the European Union to ratify the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and the European Commission to remove the IUU yellow card on Vietnam's seafood.
