The school has a total construction cost of nearly 6 billion VND, including a 2-storey building with 5 classrooms, 2 offices and toilets. The project is expected to be put into use in 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said: The number of Vietnamese and Lao students in Khongsedone district (Salavane province) is increasing, leading to an increase in the demand for educational facilities. Faced with this reality, Da Nang city has decided to support the upgrading of the Friendship Primary School founded by the Vietnamese Association in Salavane province into the Friendship Primary and Secondary School.

"The groundbreaking ceremony to upgrade the project not only contributes to completing the school system, meeting the learning needs of students, but also aims to improve the quality of teaching and learning for children of the Vietnamese community and local people in this area," said Ms. Anh Thi.

Mr. Somchay Ounchit, Deputy Governor of Salavane Province, highly appreciated the practical and timely support of Da Nang City for local education. He affirmed that the Friendship Primary and Secondary School project is not only significant in terms of facilities but also a symbol of solidarity and attachment between the people of Laos and Vietnam in general, and between Salavane Province and Da Nang City in particular.

In recent years, Da Nang has maintained and expanded many practical cooperation programs with Salavane Province (Laos), especially in the field of education and training. Each year, the city grants scholarships to about 30 officials and students from Salavane Province to study at Da Nang University. Da Nang also supports the construction of Da Nang - Salavane Friendship High School, the Vietnamese Language Center in Salavane, and organizes training courses and professional exchanges to improve the capacity of local teachers and education staff.
