Denmark in My Eyes: Green Paintings for a Sustainable Planet

With more than 24,600 entries from 260 schools and clubs across the country, the “Denmark in Your Eyes 2024” contest continues to affirm itself as an inspiring artistic playground, helping Vietnamese students freely express their love for the environment and artistic creativity.

On April 2, at Kim Dong Publishing House (Hanoi), the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam in collaboration with the Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association organized an award ceremony and painting exhibition for the contest "Denmark in your eyes - Green ideas".

The award ceremony was attended by Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz, Vice President of the Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association Le Ngoc Tuan, representatives of agencies, departments, organizations, localities that are partners of the contest, parents and teachers, and award-winning students.

Speaking at the ceremony, Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz emphasized that young people play an important role in building society and promoting positive changes. In particular, Vietnamese youth also have many opportunities to participate in social activities, some of which are participating in the drawing contest "Denmark in my eyes - Green ideas".

According to Ambassador Nicolai Prytz, the competition has created a forum for Vietnamese students to raise awareness and express their concerns about climate and environmental issues, as well as come up with many inspiring ideas. Through this, it shows the passion and strong commitment of Vietnamese youth in joining hands for a sustainable planet.

Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association, Deputy Director of the Department of Climate Change (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) affirmed that the enthusiastic participation of students showed a deep awareness of environmental challenges caused by pollution and climate change, thereby lighting up hope for a green, sustainable future for the country.

It can be said that this year's competition with the theme "Green Ideas" not only stimulates creativity, but also encourages students to learn about environmental challenges, thereby proposing many solutions to protect nature sustainably.

The award ceremony also honored 74 individual authors and 5 outstanding collectives, whose works clearly demonstrated the young generation's concern for environmental issues.

This year's Special Prize went to Nguyen Hoang Thinh, a 6th grade student at Hanoi Victoria School, with his work "Green World - Green Future" created from scraps of fabric.

At the award ceremony, Nguyen Hoang Thinh shared his idea for the painting made from scraps of fabric, "I hope to inspire and call on friends and people around me to join hands to protect our planet and environment. By creating works of art by reusing discarded materials, I want to honor the beauty of the world, the beauty of life, and at the same time aim for sustainable values."

The Organizing Committee also awarded 73 other individual prizes, including 2 First prizes, 4 Second prizes, 8 Third prizes, 50 Fourth prizes and 9 Promising prizes to students from many provinces and cities across the country.

The Collective Award was given to units with outstanding achievements such as the Union of Friendship Organizations of Can Tho City, Hue, Dong Thap, Nguyen Sieu School and Educational Technology Primary School.

In addition, an art exhibition was held within the framework of the award ceremony, displaying many of the best works of the competition. Each painting is a story, a strong message about protecting nature and green living. The exhibition has created a strong attraction, spreading the message of sustainable development through a unique combination of art and environmental protection awareness.

The drawing contest “Denmark in my eyes - Green ideas” is an annual contest co-organized by the Embassy of Denmark and the Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association (VIDAFA), in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Training, Kim Dong Publishing House, Thieu Nien Tien Phong and Nhi Dong newspapers .

Each year the competition is launched with a new theme, always focusing on environmental issues and the green agenda.

With positive and highly educational messages, the competition is not only a playground for artistic creativity but also a strong source of inspiration in raising awareness among the younger generation about the responsibility of protecting the environment. Through each painting, each stroke, the students have contributed to creating a green movement, promoting practical actions for a sustainable future.
