EC225 helicopter, serial number VN-8620, carried out the mission of transporting soldiers from An Bang island to the mainland for treatment.

On January 3, after receiving orders from superiors to use helicopters to rescue a soldier who was being treated at An Bang Island Hospital to the mainland for emergency treatment, the Southern Helicopter Company, Army Corps 18, grasped the mission, urgently developed a plan, flight route, refueling plan, landing approach, closely coordinated with related forces; well prepared all aspects of technical assurance, logistics, communications, weather conditions, and meteorology in the areas to carry out the orders.

The flight crew included pilot Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Minh Tien, Captain Duong Van Truong, Captain Ha Xuan Truong, and technician Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Bao Khanh, piloting the EC225 Helicopter, registration number VN-8620, to carry out the mission.

At 14:23 on January 3, the helicopter took off from Vung Tau airport to Tan Son Nhat airport to pick up the medical team of Military Hospital 175; then flew to An Bang island to pick up the patient and flew back to the mainland. At 00:12, the helicopter landed at the landing plate of Military Hospital 175, quickly took the patient to the emergency room, then returned to land at Vung Tau airport to complete the mission, ensuring absolute safety.

The patient is professional Lieutenant Do Minh Vuong, born in 1997, Repairman, Brigade 146 of the Navy, working on An Bang Island; diagnosed with meningitis excluding subarachnoid hemorrhage, severe prognosis, beyond the ability to provide medicine at An Bang Island Infirmary.

Immediately after the helicopter landed, doctors and medical staff of Military Hospital 175 quickly received the patient, carried out medical orders, organized emergency care, and provided appropriate treatment.

During the mission, despite complex weather conditions, flying at night, at sea, long flight times, taking off and landing at many locations; urgent and quick preparation work; the unit thoroughly implemented timely, correct procedures; closely coordinated with the Air Defense - Air Force, the Navy and related units to handle all situations well.

During the maneuver, the flight crew coordinated smoothly, ensuring absolute safety and getting the patient to the hospital as quickly as possible.
