Maersk’s revenue increased 2.8% to $13.1 billion, compared to $12.8 billion in the same period last year, according to its second quarter 2025 Interim Report released on Thursday. The increase was driven by growth across all business segments, especially Ocean. The report covers the period from January 1 to June 30, 2025.

The Ocean segment recorded a 2.4% increase in revenue, driven by higher volumes and additional demurrage revenue. Cost control and improved operational efficiency supported the results. The company also said that bunker costs decreased by 10% due to lower fuel prices, contributing to the improved financial results.

Maersk has raised its full-year 2025 financial outlook, reflecting stronger-than-expected market demand outside North America. The company now forecasts global container market volume growth of 2–4%, up from its previous forecast of 1–4%.

Disruptions in the Red Sea are expected to continue throughout 2025, impacting operational strategies. Additionally, a US Presidential Executive Order issued on July 31, 2025, imposed an effective import tariff of 24% based on container weight, significantly impacting the market environment.

Mr. Vincent Clerc – CEO of Maersk – said the company had a positive first half of the year thanks to operational improvement plans and the successful implementation of the Gemini Cooperation program.

“Our new East-West network is raising the bar for reliability and setting new industry standards. This is a key factor in driving increased volumes and delivering positive results for the Ocean business,” he said.

“Despite volatile markets and uncertain global trade, demand has remained stable. We have responded quickly and flexibly. As our customers navigate these complex challenges, Maersk is committed to helping them build stronger and more resilient supply chains – not just to weather disruptions, but to thrive in them.”

In the report, Maersk emphasized that it will continue to invest in the network to improve reliability and respond to changes in global trade needs.
