Speaking at the award ceremony of the Vietnam Short Film Contest - Vietnamese 2025 , journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan (Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper - Head of the Organizing Committee) said that this year, the submitted films showed diversity in genres and topics, including many experimental works in terms of theme, message and technique... "This year's films are of high quality, relatively uniform and show that most of the crews have a firm grasp of the basic principles and techniques from which to freely create. All of this is proof of the principle: you can tell any story, in any way, but the first thing is to do your best with your choice", journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan shared.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan highly appreciated the professionalism of the Vietnam Short Film Competition - Vietnamese 2025. With the criteria of selecting works that have never been entered into the competition before, the President of the Vietnam Cinema Development Association was surprised by the number of 128 entries. Ms. Ngo Phuong Lan said that there were many films with creative ideas, authentic expressions that brought emotions to viewers... in line with the criteria set by the jury. "With this momentum, we believe that through the competition, many new faces will be discovered, contributing to the flow of cinema in the near future," Ms. Ngo Phuong Lan emphasized.
'Memory Seed' wins big at Vietnamese 2025
The Vietnam Short Film Competition - Vietnamese 2025 took place for nearly 2 months, from 128 short films submitted with 114 valid films and 63 films selected to be published on Thanh Nien Online Newspaper, the preliminary round jury selected 20 excellent works for the final round. This is also the first year to add a documentary film category, receiving support from young filmmakers.

In the individual award category, La Nguyen Qui Anh was awarded the Best Actress award for her role in On the top of the cabinet, under the tree pot, kept in the heart by director Ly Vu Bang. Meanwhile, the Best Actor award went to Nguyen Vu in the film Mam nho by director Bui Duc Anh. Cinematographer Dinh Minh Hai of Gui me cua me won the Best Director of Photography award. The Best Screenwriter and Best Director awards were respectively given to Ho Minh Hieu of Dieu ngot do o lai and Bui Duc Anh of Mam nho.
Sharing the moment of receiving the award from actress Thuy Ngan and journalist Nguyen Trong Phuoc, La Nguyen Qui Anh burst into tears and expressed: “As Ms. Thuy Ngan said, an actor’s journey begins with the smallest roles. Since pursuing this journey, there have been times when I have doubted whether I am suitable or not. Today, when receiving this award, it is a great motivation for me to continue pursuing, to be more determined and to want to contribute more.”

In the short film category, the project Happiness Card: Invitation from the Dark by director Chu Dieu Linh won the award for Most Viral Short Film. The award for Most Creative Film was given to Small Fish by director Dao Hoang Duy - a work that conveys the message "don't let kindness accidentally become the tragedy of other creatures".
The Best Documentary award went to Gioi Gio by director Tran Vu Linh. The film tells the story of the work of shoemakers and the fate of patients treated at Quy Hoa Central Dermatology Hospital ( Gia Lai ). “We put a lot of emotion and empathy into the work. When my name was called for this award, I felt very honored,” the film crew shared.

In addition to the Best Actor and Best Director awards, the film Mam Nho continued to receive good news when it won the Best Short Film award. This film tells the story of a young man's challenges in caring for his mother who has Alzheimer's disease.
In the moment of receiving the award from journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan and Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, director Bui Duc Anh said: "I want to thank the film crew, my family and those who supported me in making this project. Thank you to the organizers for creating the opportunity for us to experience and have another playground to express ourselves."
