Promoting Vietnam - Korea relations through people-to-people cooperation

Within the framework of the friendship visit to Korea from July 29 to August 2, the high-ranking delegation of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) led by Chairman Do Van Chien had many meaningful activities to strengthen the connection of the Vietnamese community in Korea and promote people-to-people cooperation between the two countries.

On the morning of August 2, the delegation visited the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in Seoul, met with officials and staff of the representative agency and representatives of the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Korea.

At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea Vu Ho reported on the situation and activities of the Vietnamese community in Korea. The Ambassador emphasized the continuous growth of the community of more than 300,000 Vietnamese people and the central role of associations in connecting and supporting the people. The Ambassador affirmed the motto of "wherever there are Vietnamese people, there are associations". The Embassy will continue to coordinate with domestic and Korean agencies to build a strong Vietnamese community, contributing positively to the Vietnam - Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Representatives of associations such as the General Association of Vietnamese, the Vietnam Women's Union, the Vietnamese Student Association, the Vietnamese Buddhist Association in Korea... shared their efforts in organizing activities to connect the community, promote Vietnamese culture, support the spiritual and material life of overseas Vietnamese, and turn to their homeland. On this occasion, the Vietnamese Buddhist Association in Korea donated 2 million won to support people in Nghe An province to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3.

Speaking to the community, Mr. Do Van Chien expressed his emotion when witnessing the spirit of solidarity and efforts of our overseas Vietnamese in Korea. He shared about the country's outstanding achievements, especially the ongoing comprehensive renovation process, emphasizing the consistent policy of the Party and State that always considers overseas Vietnamese as an inseparable part of the nation, an important part of the great national unity bloc.

Also on the morning of August 2, Mr. Do Van Chien and the delegation received leaders of Bonghwa district (North Gyeongsang province) and representatives of the Ly Hoa Son family to hear about the Vietnamese Village Project being implemented in the locality. He highly appreciated the cultural and historical significance of the project, affirming that this is a valuable model that contributes to promoting the image of Vietnam in Korea, and at the same time proposed a number of solutions to further promote the potential for tourism development and cultural exchange between the two countries.

On July 31 and August 1, the delegation had meetings with Chairman of the Korean Economic , Social and Labor Council Kwon Gi Seop, Vice Chairman of the Korea-Vietnam Friendship Association Lee Sang Seok, and Chairman of the Korea-Vietnam Economic and Cultural Exchange Association Kwon Seong Taek. The Korean partners all expressed their desire to continue to deepen comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the fields of economy, culture, labor and people-to-people exchange.
