At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long expressed his pleasure to meet and welcome Mr. Denny Abdi, Ambassador of Indonesia to Vietnam. The Deputy Minister also acknowledged and highly appreciated the good and friendly relationship between the two countries, especially the achievements in the fields of economy, trade and investment. In the region, Indonesia is also a major partner and friend of Vietnam, especially within the framework of ASEAN.

Indonesian Ambassador Denny Abdi thanked the Deputy Minister for taking the time to receive the delegation. Agreeing with the Deputy Minister's assessment, Mr. Denny said that since the visit to Vietnam in January 2024 by Indonesian President Joko Widodo, the agencies and ministries of the two countries have been making efforts to further promote the Vietnam - Indonesia relationship to a new level. Ambassador Denny said that Vietnam and Indonesia can consider and further promote cooperation in 05 potential areas with much room for development, including agriculture, fisheries, digital transformation, renewable energy and high-tech industry. Regarding the industrial sector, the Indonesian Ambassador highly appreciated the fact that many Vietnamese enterprises and investors have come to invest in Indonesia in recent times, including VinFast Group investing and building an electric car factory - creating a new premise and new trend in the development of the electric vehicle battery ecosystem in Indonesia and the ASEAN region. Regarding agricultural cooperation, TH Group has invested in and developed a farm and fresh milk system in Indonesia. Regarding fisheries cooperation, the two countries also have great potential for cooperation, especially after the two sides completed negotiations on the delimitation of overlapping areas at sea.
Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi
After listening to the Indonesian Ambassador's sharing, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long highly appreciated the Ambassador's proposals. Regarding the field of renewable energy, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long emphasized that Vietnam wishes to promote cooperation, consult policies and learn from Indonesia's experience in this field, especially since Vietnam and Indonesia both participated in the Political Declaration on the Establishment of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) in the same year 2023. Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long shared that currently, between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, there is a Memorandum of Understanding on Energy and Mineral Resources Cooperation (signed in 2022).
To further promote the cooperation between Indonesia and Vietnam in the energy sector, the Deputy Minister proposed that Ambassador Denny Abdi discuss with the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to consider organizing an online conference chaired by the Deputy Minister and his counterpart from the Indonesian counterpart ministry. Accordingly, the conference can share and discuss two main contents including the implementation of the JETP Declaration - in which Indonesia will share implementation experience, lessons learned and the PPA power purchase mechanism - Vietnam will share implementation experience.

Ambassador Denny Abdi fully supported and said that he would inform and discuss with the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources about the proposal of Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long. At the end of the meeting, the Indonesian Ambassador thanked Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long for taking the time to receive the delegation of the Indonesian Embassy to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long thanked the Ambassador and wished Ambassador Denny Abdi continued to make positive contributions to the good development of the two countries.
