The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the total summer-autumn crop planting area in the province is 82,791/85,430 hectares, reaching 96.91% of the crop plan and equal to 101.07% over the same period. The summer-autumn food output is estimated at 267,856/280,361 tons, of which rice output is about 230,731 tons, corn 37,125 tons... In this rice crop, pests and diseases on crops appeared and caused scattered damage over a large area, but with a low damage rate, not much affecting the yield.

For example, in Bac Binh district, in the summer-autumn crop of 2023, the whole district produced 12,705 hectares of rice, with varieties such as Dai Thom 8, ML 48, ML214, BDR57, ST24, ST25, NVP 79, An Sinh, OM 5451... At this time, the rice areas are in the ripening - harvesting stage and the harvested area is about 11,000/12,705 hectares. Most of the areas have high yields, an average of 7 - 8.5 tons/ha (dry rice), with the purchase price of dry rice fluctuating at 8,200 - 8,500 VND/kg, the highest ever, so farmers are very excited. However, according to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, there are still some summer-autumn rice fields in the heading stage, which need to be monitored and cared for. In the remaining rice fields, pests can still attack and reduce productivity, so farmers should visit the fields regularly for timely prevention and control. On the other hand, farmers need to take advantage of the quick and neat summer-autumn rice harvest with the motto "green at home is better than old in the field" to avoid damage caused by early rain, floods, and tornadoes that cause rice to fall and free up land in time, ensuring the 2023 winter-spring crop planting schedule.

Ensure timely sowing of crops

In 2023, the whole province strives to achieve the food output target of 800,000 tons. Of which, the food output of the 2023 winter-spring and summer-autumn crops is estimated at about 558,656 tons. Therefore, the food output of the 2023 winter-spring crop needs to reach 248,200 tons, corresponding to a food crop planting area of ​​45,130 hectares.

According to the crop calendar of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, for rice production areas without proactive water supply, localities focus on sowing from August 15 to September 15. For areas with proactive water supply (summer-autumn replanting), due to late planting in the summer-autumn crop, the focus is on sowing from August 30 to September 30. At the same time, it should be noted that, based on the actual situation, localities can arrange production to suit their water and land resources. However, the sowing areas must ensure sufficient water from sowing to harvest, and not sow indiscriminately to avoid causing damage to people. On the other hand, the summer-autumn crop has high humidity, so there are often more pests and diseases than other crops in the year. Therefore, do not extend the sowing season, affecting the water regulation process, the general crop calendar, which is a condition for the spread of pathogens to the following crops...

According to Mr. Phan Van Tan - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, to achieve the best results in the crop season, the provincial agricultural sector noted that for Duc Linh and Tanh Linh districts, areas that often experience flash floods and deep flooding, they should not arrange for crop production but switch to early winter-spring crop production to avoid the main crop floods in September and October. High-lying fields, or fields that have produced 2 rice crops, and fields with favorable conditions should switch to producing dry crops such as corn, vegetables, and beans of all kinds to limit damage from diseases. In particular, after harvesting the summer-autumn rice crop, it is necessary to focus on cleaning the fields, and planting must be concentrated in each area and each field...

According to the plan, the 2023 winter-spring rice crop area in the province will decrease by 1,660 hectares compared to the same period in 2022 because the expected winter-spring rice planting area in Duc Linh district will decrease by 1,810 hectares compared to the same period. In particular, the expected winter-spring rice planting area in Tanh Linh district will increase by 150 hectares compared to the same period.
