In the midst of the overwhelming colors and scents of spring, as heaven and earth move into a new cycle of life, I would like to send my best wishes for a New Year of peace, prosperity, and confidence in the future!
The year 2024 has come to an end, leaving unforgettable marks in the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Malaysia. The upgrading of the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, during the historic visit of General Secretary To Lam to Malaysia in November 2024, not only marks the 10th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership but also opens a new chapter full of prospects for sustainable ties between the two countries.
Malaysia is proud to be the first ASEAN country and the 9th country in the world, after major powers such as China, the US, Russia, Japan, India, South Korea, Australia and France, to establish the highest level of relations with Vietnam.
The 2024 journey concludes with inspiring numbers. Vietnam recorded a GDP growth of 7.09%, while Malaysia also boasted a growth rate of 5.2%, far exceeding expectations. But beyond economic indicators, bilateral cooperation achievements are also depicted through renewable energy projects, high-tech flows, and cooperation in the semiconductor sector, where small products carry the aspiration of global connectivity.
Vietnam, entering the era of national development, is transforming strongly with a young, dynamic, creative workforce and a strong desire to become a developed country by 2045. Meanwhile, Malaysia is constantly striving to overcome the middle-income trap, aiming to become a high-income country. This is the moment when both countries, with determination and strong will, are taking advantage of every opportunity to create historic breakthroughs, bringing the bilateral cooperation relationship to new heights.
However, the Vietnam-Malaysia relationship does not stop at economic benefits. It is also a bond of culture, affection and trust between the people of the two countries. Stories about the Vietnamese community in Malaysia, cultural exchange events, and friendly smiles in daily life have deepened and strengthened the friendship between the two peoples.
Entering 2025, when Malaysia assumes the role of ASEAN Chair, I believe that this will be the period for the two countries to join hands to realize the aspiration for a region of peace, stability and sustainable development. Like a strong, flexible but resilient bamboo, the relationship between Vietnam and Malaysia will continue to grow, overcoming all challenges to welcome the bright light of new days.
Spring is an opportunity to sow seeds of hope, a time to start big dreams. With the solid foundation that has been built, I believe that the Vietnam-Malaysia relationship will increasingly blossom, bringing prosperity and happiness to both peoples and contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world.
On the occasion of the New Year of the Snake, I would like to wish all readers a new year filled with joy, good health and great success on every journey!
