Master "leaves the city to return to the countryside" out of passion for local specialties

The founder of Sachi rice paper - Mr. Nguyen Huu Vinh was born and raised in the cradle of Tam Quan coconut rice paper (Binh Dinh), starting out as a farmer and engineer, passionate about manufacturing and agriculture.

In 2019, Mr. Vinh realized that traditional rice paper batches depended on "when there are many, it is sunny, when there are few, it is rainy", and could only be made during the sunny months, while the rainy season did not have enough sunlight to dry the products. The son of Xu Nau was always looking for solutions, looking for ways to elevate the specialty to a new level. With his experience as an engineer, Mr. Vinh built a completely closed production line, invested in machinery, including an automatic rice paper system and a closed baking system that simulates solar heat.

Bringing Binh Dinh specialty rice paper to Shark Tank season 7

Preserving the traditional profession, bringing Binh Dinh rice paper to call for capital on Shark Tank 7 - an opportunity to connect startup ideas with enthusiastic investors, Sachi is ready for the opportunity to spread its wings, be proud and spread regional specialties, conquer the domestic and export markets.

Finding opportunities to bring Vietnamese specialties "far away"

Leaving the city to return to the countryside, Mr. Vinh started a business and built a large-scale Sachi rice paper factory in Binh Dinh province.

Bringing the story of the indispensable "rice paper rations" of the Tay Son army during the war to the Shark Tank 7 fundraising stage, Sachi breathed life into the national specialty of Binh Dinh.

Impressing Vice President Thai Huong and especially realizing the enthusiasm of the Binh Dinh rice paper specialty startup, Shark Thai offered to invest 5 billion in exchange for 10% of shares, the remaining 10 billion VND is a loan within 1-2 years, but after discussion, the startup decided to refuse Shark Thai. Both refused Shark Thai's 15 billion VND, causing the deal to fail, ending the dramatic capital call, leaving many TV viewers stunned with regret.

Compact, delicious, economical - rice paper was once the "dry food" in the lightning-fast campaign of the Tay Son army.

Despite receiving an investment offer from Shark Thai - a secretive shark; Mr. Nguyen Huu Vinh still decided to quickly shake his head and choose not to negotiate. Because the founder of Sachi rice paper hopes to find a shark in the same field who can support exports to bring the specialty to foreign countries.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Vinh shared: “I joined Shark Tank 7 with the hope of accessing the ecosystem of a “shark” to further develop the export sector. Proud of my homeland, proud of having quality rice and coconut to create products that can cover the S-shaped map and ring bells in foreign lands. To do this, I need partners and associates with the same goals and Sachi has a suitable price. If one of the two cannot be achieved, I am ready to refuse. However, I am very grateful to the Sharks for their initial offer, hoping that one day there will still be a chance to cooperate.”

Mr. Nguyen Huu Vinh has a master's degree in agriculture and forestry, and studied automation. Thanks to his job selling equipment and initial capital of 1.5 billion VND; at the age of 30, he continued to start a business with the Sachi rice paper project. To date, Sachi's products have met export standards such as FDA, ISO 22000:2018, OCOP, ISO 14001:2015.

“The Sachi factory is also an opportunity to help hundreds of hard-working people in the Central region increase their income and improve their quality of life. It creates value, contributes to adding fish and meat to farmers’ meals, and helps children have new clothes,” Vinh shared.
