Accordingly, after listening to the National Assembly Standing Committee's report on the explanation and acceptance of opinions of National Assembly deputies discussing in groups on the list of nominees for the National Assembly to elect the President (if any), the National Assembly will discuss and vote to approve the list to elect the President before proceeding to elect the President by secret ballot.

When the vote count is complete, the National Assembly Standing Committee will submit to the National Assembly a draft resolution on the election of the President. The National Assembly will discuss and vote to approve the resolution on the election of the President.

Immediately afterwards, the new President will take the oath of office and deliver his inaugural speech before the National Assembly and voters and people nationwide via live television and radio broadcasts.

Also in the working program on the morning of May 22, the National Assembly will approve the members of the National Defense and Security Council at the proposal of the President by secret ballot and approve the dismissal of the Minister of Public Security by secret ballot at the proposal of the Prime Minister.

Previously, in the late afternoon of February 21, the National Assembly listened to the Prime Minister's Report on the proposal to approve the dismissal of the Minister of Public Security; the National Assembly Standing Committee's Report on the election of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term, then discussed the above two contents in groups.

At the 9th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee, General To Lam - Politburo member and Minister of Public Security was unanimously recommended by the Central Committee to be elected by the 15th National Assembly to hold the position of President.

In addition to personnel work, today, the National Assembly will listen to a Government representative present a report on the results of implementing national gender equality goals in 2023; a report on adjusting the investment policy of the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 period; and discuss in the hall a number of contents with different opinions in the draft Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety.
