Vietnam Airlines flight VN244, from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft numbered VN-A868 bearing the symbol of the Lac Bird, carrying 229 passengers, took off at 9:30 a.m. on April 19 from Terminal T3, Tan Son Nhat Airport, marking the official opening flight of the most modern passenger terminal in the country. Previously, at 8:00 a.m. on the same day, flight VN243 from Hanoi operated by Vietnam Airlines, also by Boeing 787 bearing the image of the Lac Bird, landed in Ho Chi Minh City, becoming the first commercial flight to arrive and use Terminal T3. The aircraft was solemnly welcomed with a water cannon salute, a tradition in the aviation industry for flights with special milestones.

The opening of Terminal T3 also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), further highlighting the symbolic value of the image of the Lac Bird - representing the aspiration to fly high, to reach far and the eternal spirit of the Vietnamese people. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with registration number VN-A868 with a special design, highlighting the image of the Lac Bird - a sacred symbol of Vietnamese culture, closely associated with the nation's roots and aspirations to reach far and live forever, was launched by Vietnam Airlines on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Airlines Corporation and towards the country's important holidays in 2025. The image of the Lac Bird - a symbol originating from the Dong Son era - is depicted on the fuselage of the Boeing 787 - the most modern aircraft in the world today - which is also the most advanced technological mainstay in Vietnam Airlines' fleet.
