The Provincial Women's Union (PPU) has just held a launching ceremony for the community communication team, under Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" in Phan Tien commune (Bac Binh).
The team consists of 8 members, including the Party cell secretary, village chief, women's association head, representatives of the Fatherland Front working committee, local unions, prestigious people, and heads of existing groups/teams/clubs in the area.
The community communication team focuses on propagating and mobilizing changes in "thinking and doing" to contribute to eliminating prejudices and gender stereotypes in families and communities, backward customs and some urgent social issues for women and children. Building and replicating models of changing "thinking and doing", enhancing economic power for women; promoting gender equality and solving urgent problems for women and children. Ensuring the voice and participation of women and children in socio-economic development activities of the community, monitoring and criticizing; supporting women to participate in leadership in the political system. In addition, equipping knowledge on gender equality and skills to implement gender mainstreaming for officials in the political system, village elders, village chiefs, religious dignitaries and prestigious people in the community.
After the launching ceremony, the Provincial Women's Union communicated some sample related content to members of the communication team.
Up to now, Binh Thuan has established 15/20 community communication teams in 20 villages/12 communes in 4 districts implementing Project 8, including Tanh Linh, Ham Thuan Nam, Ham Thuan Bac and Bac Binh.
