Quang Nam earns more than 7 billion VND from the 6th Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival

On the afternoon of August 3, the Organizing Committee of the Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival in Nam Tra My said: The 6th Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival in 2024, with the theme "Ngoc Linh - Forever proud", taking place from August 1-3, will have many unique and attractive activities, thereby bringing in quite a large revenue for the people of the district.

The 6th Ngoc Linh ginseng festival brought more than 7 billion VND to the people of Nam Tra My.

The festival has 5 main activities including: Opening program and art performance; Ngoc Linh ginseng market and typical agricultural and forestry products of mountainous Quang Nam province; Ngoc Linh ginseng competition - Ngoc Linh ginseng auction; pole performance competition; folk dance competition.

In addition to the main programs above, the festival also has activities such as: Picking up and dropping off visitors to visit tourist attractions in the district, picking up tourists to explore Ngoc Linh ginseng area, and traditional cultural games typical of the people.

Mr. Nguyen The Phuoc - Vice Chairman of Nam Tra My District People's Committee said that the festival attracted more than 10,000 visitors to visit, shop and participate in activities, with more than 50 booths selling Ngoc Linh ginseng products and OCOP products typical of the mountainous region.

According to the organizers, the revenue during the 3 days of the festival is estimated to reach more than 7 billion VND. Ngoc Linh ginseng alone sold about 70kg, earning nearly 6 billion VND.

Notably, in this festival, 11 households, individuals and businesses donated prize-winning ginseng roots to the auction organizers to raise more than 360 million VND to use for the demolition of temporary houses in response to the call of the Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee.

Also at this Festival, the Organizing Committee held a culinary contest “The scent and beauty of Ngoc Linh Nam Tra My connects loving families”, attracting 20 pairs of member families, women from the Ca-dong, Xo-dang, and Mnong ethnic minorities across the district to participate. The Organizing Committee awarded 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 1 third prize, and 7 consolation prizes to the competing teams.

On August 1-2, the Festival Organizing Committee also deployed 10 Ngoc Linh highland culinary stalls to serve locals and tourists with traditional culinary dishes such as: grilled chicken, bamboo rice, rock snails, grilled black pork, smoked pork, etc.

In addition, the district also mobilized members and women to bring agricultural products such as red rice, sesame seeds, vegetables, fruits, snails, dried meat, dried fish, etc. to trade, which brought income to women. Initially, they were instructed to do business and exchange goods to develop the economy.

On this occasion, the District People's Committee commended many individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in their work at the festival.
