Uzbekistan ranks third in the world in silk production after China and India. Uzbek silk dates back to the second millennium BC during the period of the most famous trade route connecting East and West - the Silk Road with a history of more than four thousand years. Uzbekistan produces only natural silk, which is distinguished by its softness, pleasant to the touch, high durability, breathability, and fabrics made entirely of natural dyes.
Uzbek silk is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is characterized as the most charming, softest, most colorful and is a national symbol of Uzbekistan. Using ancient technology, various silk products are produced in Uzbekistan - from national clothes and hats to carpets, interior decorations and souvenirs.
