On April 27, the Economic Police Department (Phu Tho Provincial Police) discovered that Famimoto Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Dong Doi area, Thuy Van commune, Viet Tri city produced a large quantity of MSG, cooking oil, seasoning powder, and broth powder with signs of counterfeiting. These essential products were mixed, packaged with fake brands, and then consumed widely, mainly in industrial kitchens.

Not long ago, the Ministry of Public Security had just dismantled a fake milk powder production and trading ring in Hanoi and neighboring provinces. Initially, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency determined that from August 2021 to present, Rance Pharma International Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company and Hacofood Group Nutrition Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company have produced and traded 573 types of milk powder for people with diabetes, kidney failure, premature babies, and pregnant women.
In many groups and associations of mothers in Ha Tinh, milk is becoming a topic of discussion. Many people are confused and do not know which type to use to ensure quality. In particular, there are cases where people are extremely worried because they have used the type of milk on the list of brands produced by fake milk companies that has just been announced.
Not only do these fake products cause nutritional deficiencies, they also pose a potential long-term health risk. In addition, they erode people's trust in what they eat and drink every day.

Ms. Ha Trang (Xuan Hong commune, Nghi Xuan) expressed: “My family has 2 children, both of whom have used formula milk since birth. Every time I buy milk for my children, I read and research information, carefully check the barcode and anti-counterfeit stamps. However, with this "matrix" of real and fake milk mixed together, even the smartest consumers can easily buy fake products. That's why I'm choosing reputable milk sellers on the market and big milk companies like Vinamilk, TH true MILK..."
The reality of "fake goods mixed with real goods" makes consumers more "strict" in choosing food. They choose reputable brands and businesses to shop instead of using them indiscriminately and without careful selection.

To avoid buying poor quality products, consumers have also gradually equipped themselves with the necessary knowledge and experience. Some people have proactively reported when discovering food safety violations, helping authorities detect violations early so they can be prevented in time.
Typically, Tiktoker Quach Thanh Lam (Tiktok channel Vegetarian Lion) had Kera vegetable candy tested and discovered that the product was not as advertised. From there, he warned consumers and let the authorities verify and clarify.

According to the survey, the majority of Ha Tinh youth also believe that it is necessary to create forums and communities to evaluate the quality of goods and food. In particular, during the process of eating at restaurants, each person should leave comments and reviews on social networks in the direction of positive comments and suggestions to help others make the right choice.
Many housewives in the area have also gradually shifted to using natural spices available in their gardens, minimizing the use of industrial spices. There have been many changes such as: limiting the use of industrial seasoning powder, instead using coarse sea salt (sea salt roasted and then finely ground); limiting the use of industrial oil and replacing it with peanut oil, sesame oil pressed by hand; using fish sauce that meets OCOP standards...

“Recently, fake and low-quality foods have continuously appeared on the market, making me and my family extremely worried. To ensure a clean food source, my family has self-sufficient sources of vegetables; for canned foods, I will buy them at reputable supermarkets and carefully check the packaging to avoid counterfeit goods,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Tan (Cam Xuyen).
Stores selling food with origin and reputation are often preferred by consumers. In particular, products produced in the province, OCOP products are trusted by buyers and have occupied a large market share in recent times.

According to Ms. Phan Thi Dung - Director of CED Central Center (Ha Tinh City): Currently, consumer awareness is increasingly enhanced, requiring the service quality of food businesses to be improved to meet the requirements. In addition to packaged products having brands with quality that consumers trust, agricultural products must have clear origins so that consumers can grasp, evaluate and feel secure in their choices.
In addition to common foods such as powdered milk, cooking spices, vegetables, and canned foods, consumers are also cautious about functional foods on the market. Many types of functional foods are only heard about by friends or placed "absolute trust" in the seller's advertisement, which causes some functional foods of unknown origin to appear widely on the market.

"Because I work in Ho Chi Minh City, I rarely have time to go back to my hometown to visit my family. Therefore, I often buy functional foods to nourish bones, joints, and blood pressure for my parents and send them back to my hometown. When buying this product, the most important thing is to carefully research the origin of the product, read reviews from previous users, and consult a doctor to avoid family members taking poor quality functional foods," said Nguyen Tien Dat (Duc Tho district).
Deputy Head of the Provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Department Dao Thi Phuong recommended: In addition to the management, inspection and examination role of the functional forces, the most important issue is still the awareness and perception of the people in choosing food. With fresh food, you should choose fruits and vegetables with natural colors, fresh and without bruises, strange smells, brown spots or softness. Meat, fish and seafood should have uniform colors, no unpleasant odors and no slime. Fish and seafood should have clear eyes, shiny skin, and no fishy smell. Frozen food needs to have its packaging checked to ensure it is not torn or showing signs of water leakage.
Expiry date is one of the important factors when choosing food. Do not buy food that is close to its expiration date, especially foods that spoil quickly. After shopping, quickly put food in the refrigerator or freezer to prevent bacteria from growing. Meat and seafood should be kept cold from the time of purchase to ensure freshness. In particular, you should choose a reliable store such as: supermarket, store with food hygiene and safety certificate.
For packaged foods, people need to look at the label with full contents such as: food name; name, address of the trader responsible for the goods, food quantity; composition, main quality indicators, date of manufacture, expiry date, storage period, storage instructions, instructions for use and origin of the goods.
