Although it is a mountainous and border province, the majority of the people are ethnic minorities, and the level of education is uneven, but in recent years, the Party Committee, the government, departments and organizations of Lao Cai province have always paid attention to career orientation, creating favorable conditions for high school students to be selected and take exams to enter military schools. Thereby, high-quality human resources have been selected to serve the army long-term, contributing to building a regular, elite and modern Vietnam People's Army.

Political Department staff, Lao Cai Provincial Military Command advise students.
One day in mid-April, at the central courtyard of Lao Cai High School for the Gifted, thousands of 12th graders from high schools in Lao Cai city gathered in neat rows to listen to the Military Admissions Board of the Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 2 and Lao Cai province for career advice and orientation. The students, especially the male students, were all excited and highly focused to listen and grasp the information given by the program's organizers. Interspersed with art performances by the Military University of Culture and Arts and the school's students, were meaningful "homegrown" spiritual food that made the students very excited. Therefore, although the weather was a bit sunny and hot, everyone happily attended the program until the end.
Nguyen Minh Tri, living in group 19, Coc Leu ward, Lao Cai city, a 12th grader at A3 at Lao Cai High School for the Gifted, loves the military environment. Because his family has an uncle and grandfather who served in the military, and through history lectures and information on newspapers and radio about the military, he realized that it was an ideal environment for him to train and grow. However, Tri was still worried and anxious about whether he would pass the exam or not. After receiving advice from the Admissions Committee at all levels and specific information about the subjects of the schools, Tri was confident and registered for the exam at the Academy of Politics.
Luu Quoc Tuan, a Nung ethnic, living in Cao Lanh residential group, Van Hoa commune, Lao Cai city, a student of the Math major at Lao Cai High School for the Gifted, also had many concerns and worries when choosing a school to take the exam this year. Before participating in this consulting program, Tuan did not understand much about the military environment as well as the regime, standards, rights and obligations of students when passing the exam to enter military schools. After receiving clear advice, Tuan registered to take the exam to enter the Army Officer School 1.
According to Colonel Dang Xuan Thanh, Deputy Commander of Lao Cai Provincial Military Command, every year, military recruitment always receives close attention from Party committees and authorities from the province to the grassroots, especially the Military Recruitment Board at the provincial and district levels.
