BIDV, Vietcombank, VietinBank - the major state-owned banks have so far announced their first quarter 2025 business results with positive figures. The total profit of the first quarter of the year of these units reached VND 25,095 billion, equivalent to more than 1 billion USD. Agribank is the only bank that has not announced its first quarter financial report and is not listed on the stock exchange.

Vietcombank was the profit champion at the beginning of this year with VND10,859 billion, up 1.3% over the same period last year. It was followed by BIDV with VND7,413 billion, unchanged from the same period last year, and VietinBank with pre-tax profit of more than VND6,823 billion in the first quarter, up 10% over the same period last year.

As for Vietcombank, according to the latest financial report, the total cost for employees in the first quarter of this bank was 3,243 billion VND, an increase of 12% compared to the same period last year. As of March 31, the bank had a total of 24,280 employees, a decrease of 26 people compared to the beginning of the year.

On average, each bank employee received about 44.52 million VND/month, including salary, bonus, insurance and other benefits.

But the bank with the highest profits does not mean paying the highest salaries to its employees. As of the end of the first quarter, VietinBank had 24,914 employees, an increase of 183 people compared to the beginning of the year. On average, the cost per employee of this unit was 45.3 million VND/month, an improvement of 13.7% compared to the same period last year and it is the bank with the highest average salary for employees among the group of banks with State capital.

By the end of the first quarter, the "big guy" BIDV had 29,352 employees, an increase of 354 people compared to the beginning of the year. On average, the cost per employee is 37.4 million VND/month, an improvement of nearly 8% compared to the same period last year.

Agribank has just announced its 2024 financial report. The report revealed that the number of employees by the end of 2024 was 40,475, an increase of 1,172 people compared to 2023.

The average total income including salary, bonus, and allowances of all kinds of Agribank staff last year was approximately VND 16,385 billion, an increase of VND 834 billion compared to 2023. On average, the average monthly income of this bank's staff was VND 33.73 million/person, an increase of VND 760,000/person compared to the average income in 2023.

With the above income level, the average income of Agribank employees is the lowest in the group of state-owned banks.
