Science must reach the fields
At the meeting, representatives of scientists and training institutions reported to Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan on the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.

Speaking to the scientists, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan expressed his emotion when returning to the Vietnam National Academy of Agriculture - not only the cradle of training many generations of scientists, but also the place that nurtures the desire for innovation in our country's agriculture.
The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly said that over the past four years, as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, he has had the opportunity to work with research institutes, universities, scientists and farmers across the country. "Now, with a new mission - to build and implement policies for the development of science, technology and innovation - I hope to continue to work with my colleagues to bring science closer to production practices, so that "science must reach the fields", as the spirit we have always pursued," said the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly.
Emphasizing that the world is entering a new era, where science and technology are not only a part of life but also a decisive factor in the future of each country, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly quoted the scientist Albert Einstein as saying " we cannot solve problems with the same way of thinking that created them " and said that if we only rely on traditional experience, only with our hands and old farming habits, our country's agriculture will hardly be able to compete and develop sustainably in the context of globalization and climate change.
Recently, Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation of the Politburo affirmed that "Developing science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation is a top important breakthrough, the main driving force to rapidly develop modern productive forces, perfect production relations, innovate national governance methods, develop the socio-economy, prevent the risk of falling behind, and bring the country to breakthrough development and prosperity in the new era".
“This shows that if we do not take advantage of the power of science and technology, we will be left behind,” the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly noted.

Reiterating the request of General Secretary To Lam at the National Conference on Science and Technology Development, "Science must enter life, must serve the people, must become the driving force for national development", the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly said that our task is not only to research to create knowledge, but more importantly, to turn that knowledge into products, into practical solutions, helping farmers get rich right on their homeland.
Don't let administrative barriers slow down innovation
In the context of the 4.0 industrial revolution, artificial intelligence (AI) is opening up unprecedented opportunities for agriculture. From big data analysis, accurate weather forecasting, optimizing production processes, to monitoring crop diseases - all are being effectively supported by AI.
“Imagine a farmer who can use an app on his phone to scan images of leaves and instantly know if the plant is infected with pests or diseases. A shrimp farm can automatically adjust the amount of food and water temperature thanks to an intelligent AI system. A scientist can analyze millions of soil samples in just a few minutes, finding the most suitable breed for each region’s natural conditions,” said the Vice President of the National Assembly.
As Stephen Hawking said: "Artificial intelligence can be the best or worst thing that has ever happened to humanity. We must ensure that it is used properly," said the Vice President of the National Assembly, meaning that AI is not a replacement for humans, but a tool to support humans, helping us make better, faster, more accurate decisions.

In fact, no matter how excellent a research is, if it only exists on paper and in scientific journals, it cannot be called a success. Science is only truly meaningful when it helps life, when farmers can apply and benefit from it.
Scientist Louis Pasteur once said, science has no borders, because knowledge belongs to humanity, and is the light that illuminates the world.

"So how can we prevent science from being stuck in the lab? How can we prevent farmers from seeing science as something far away?". Raising this issue, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly hopes that scientists need to listen more - understand the real needs of farmers, and cooperate closely with businesses to put research into production.
Science policies must be more practical - don't let administrative barriers slow down innovation. Universities and research institutes need to train a more practical generation. Graduates must not only be good at theory but also know how to turn knowledge into economic value. As the great female scientist Marie Curie said, "Nothing in life is to be feared, only things to be better understood."
“We are not afraid of innovation, not afraid of technology, not afraid of the challenges ahead - we just need to understand better, act faster and be more determined,” the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly emphasized.
Resolution 57-NQ/TW has set out major directions, but what is more important is how to put this resolution into practice, creating a real turning point in scientific research and innovation. Remember, every great achievement starts with small actions today. If we lay a solid foundation today, then tomorrow Vietnamese agriculture will stand firmly on its own two feet, reaching out to the world.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly suggested, “Let's do science together not for beautiful reports, but for sustainable agriculture, for prosperous farmers, for the future of our children.”
Emphasizing the message of General Secretary To Lam - Resolution 57 - NQ/TW is a Resolution of action, a Resolution of Resolutions - the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly hopes that scientists must "live" with Resolution 57 - NQ/TW and Resolution 193/2025/QH15 of the National Assembly "piloting a number of special mechanisms and policies to create breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. Research institutes, universities, scientists and farmers across the country need to continue to respond to the spirit of these two important Resolutions, transforming the spirit of the Resolution into "scientific research products", and incorporating them into each subject on science and technology.
