During the 21 years of resistance war against the US to save the country (1954 - 1975), along with the whole country, the army and people of all ethnic groups in the province were always proud of having made important contributions to the cause of fighting for independence, liberating the South, and unifying the country.

Under the leadership of the Party, the people of Vinh Phuc always uphold the spirit: "Not a pound of rice is missing, not a soldier is missing", "all for the beloved South". The whole province has had more than 116,500 outstanding young people join the army; thousands of young volunteers participate in combat service in all battlefields.

In the emulation atmosphere of the whole country, the people of all ethnic groups in the province always do a good job in the rear with the slogan "Steady hand on gun, steady hand on hammer, steady hand on plow"; enthusiastically compete in labor production, building the homeland to become a solid rear to provide full and timely support to the southern front.

From 1965 to 1975, Vinh Phu province (now divided into two provinces, Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc) always fulfilled and exceeded the target of providing timely food and provisions to the frontline, receiving praise from the Government. Local troops and militias were organized and built to constantly grow and mature in all aspects, truly becoming the core force for the people's movement to fight the enemy.

In particular, the people's air defense force has been built and organized in most villages and hamlets in the province, coordinating with the air defense force of the main force, creating a dense air defense network ready to fight back against American planes attacking the North of our country...

The glorious feat of arms of the army and people of Vinh Phuc contributed, together with the army and people of the whole country, to the successful conclusion of the resistance war against the US to save the country, culminating in the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975.

On April 30, 1975, the flag of the Liberation Army flew over the roof of the Independence Palace, marking the complete collapse of the US imperialists and their puppet regime in the South. The great victory of Spring 1975 completely defeated the war of aggression and abolished the domination of the US imperialists; completely liberated the South, unified the country, and gloriously ended the most arduous and fierce resistance war in the history of our nation against foreign invaders.

Years will pass, but the Great Victory of Spring 1975 will forever go down in history as the most brilliant milestone, a shining symbol of the complete victory of revolutionary heroism and the intelligence of the Vietnamese people.

The spirit and lessons of the Great Victory of Spring 1975, especially the lesson of strongly promoting the tradition of patriotism, the spirit of great national unity, the will of self-reliance, determination, bravery and creativity are always applied and promoted by Vinh Phuc, creating endogenous strength for the province to overcome all difficulties and challenges, building the homeland to be increasingly rich, beautiful and civilized.

After 50 years of liberating the South, unifying the country and nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation, industrialization, modernization and international integration, Vinh Phuc has achieved many important achievements.

From a purely agricultural province with many difficulties, Vinh Phuc has transformed itself into an industrial province, a bright spot in the country's economic development. In 2024, the province's GRDP will reach more than 170,000 billion VND, ranking 14th in the country; GRDP growth will reach 7.52%, higher than the average growth rate of the whole country; GRDP per capita is estimated at 141.3 million VND; total budget revenue in 2024 will reach more than 30,000 billion VND. In the first quarter of 2025, the province's GRDP is estimated to increase by 8.75% over the same period, the highest increase since 2020.

Along with economic development, the province always pays attention to cultural and social development, ensuring social security and improving people's lives with the consistent viewpoint "All people enjoy the fruits of development".

By the end of 2024, the poverty rate in the province will decrease to 0.43%, and is expected to decrease to 0.3% by the end of 2025; indicators of income and living standards of Vinh Phuc people have been among the leading localities in the country for many consecutive years; the quality of education and training continues to affirm its leading position...

The 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day is an opportunity for every cadre, party member and people of Vinh Phuc to review the heroic history of the nation and look back on the journey of striving for construction and development.

At the same time, we have a deeper understanding of the values ​​and lessons learned from the practical struggles of the nation to add strength and determination to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new period; arouse the desire to contribute, the will to be self-reliant and self-reliant in each cadre, party member and people, turning the glorious achievements of the past into a driving force for Vinh Phuc to firmly step with the whole country into a new era - an era of striving and prosperous development.
