Nguyen Minh Long, born in 1997, is a complete “outsider” to the fashion industry, having graduated from the engineering department of Hanoi University of Transport. Although he chose to become a traffic engineer, Nguyen Minh Long’s love and emotions are placed in fashion, in the traditional ao dai of the nation.

Unlike other young designers who always want to have new and unique creations for the ao dai, Nguyen Minh Long always wants to preserve and develop the traditional ao dai.

To him, the ao dai is not simply a costume, but a cultural symbol of Vietnamese women, traditional but not old-fashioned, modern but still retaining its identity.

Nguyen Minh Long affirms that in all his designs, he always adheres to the combination of pure Vietnamese beauty and contemporary breath. That is the reason why he constantly creates, learns, innovates shapes, materials, decorative details... but still maintains traditional values ​​in each of his designs. Each Ao Dai is a cultural story told in the language of fashion, a story about the land, about people, about deep love for the homeland.

His creations, nurtured over time, have helped many Vietnamese beauty queens and artists shine, such as People's Artist Lan Huong, Miss Dang Thu Thao, Miss Dinh Nhu Phuong, runner-up Thu Hang...

Nguyen Minh Long shared. “I want to design Ao Dai models that not only make the wearer feel beautiful, but also exude the beauty of the country and people of Vietnam."

His designs are inspired by his travels from north to south, up to the mountains and down to the sea. Every scene in the places he has visited has left its mark on his designs. One of those designs is the collection “Fisherman’s Voice”, with the beauty of fishermen straining to pull their nets, sweat blending with the bright sunlight on the sea. For him, each Ao Dai design is also a story about his homeland told through materials, styles, colors and patterns.

However, the further dream of this young designer is to make the Ao Dai shine with international beauties. Many international beauties have chosen Nguyen Minh Long's designs and shined, such as Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Johanna Datul, 2nd Runner-up Miss World Laos 2019 Xanita Savengxok...

Nguyen Minh Long's wish is to bring Ao Dai to international beauty contests. He plans to design Ao Dai as gifts for international beauty queens, so they can wear them when they come to Vietnam or proudly wear them in their own homeland.

“To make each Ao Dai an ambassador spreading the beauty of Vietnam to the world, I will constantly create to recreate the beauty of nature, the charming landscape and the Vietnamese people through each stitch. I hope that each Ao Dai design not only exudes a traditional mark, but also tells a vivid story about my homeland - the place where I was born and raised, a place filled with memories, emotions and national pride”, Nguyen Minh Long shared.

In 2023, with his positive contributions to preserving and promoting Vietnamese heritage in each Ao Dai, designer Nguyen Minh Long received a certificate of merit from the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations. This is the motivation for him to continue nurturing his inspiration and love for Ao Dai on the journey to bring this Vietnamese cultural feature to the world.
