According to Vinh Phuc Provincial Police, in July 2024, the Criminal Police Department of Vinh Phuc Provincial Police received a criminal complaint from Mr. VQX, residing in Vinh Tuong District, Vinh Phuc Province, about being scammed and having his property appropriated in the form of "one-night stand duty". Mr. X. was scammed out of more than 1 billion VND by this method.

According to Vinh Phuc Provincial Police, in recent times, the situation of fraud and property appropriation crimes on cyberspace has continued, with an increasing trend, with many new, sophisticated and cunning methods and tricks using information technology and telecommunications as tools and means of committing crimes, causing outrage in public opinion, affecting security, order and people's lives. In particular, the form of fraud and property appropriation through the form of "one-night stand duty" has emerged with a new approach, targeting victims who are curious men who want to learn more.

Specifically, the subjects create fake Facebook accounts and use the names, images, and brand logos of real restaurants, hotels, bars, and nightclubs to gain the victims' trust, then run Facebook ads with attractive pornographic content such as "National Call Girl System", "Call Girl", "One Night Stand", etc. When someone approaches, the subjects lure the victims into joining Telegram groups and instruct them to access fake websites to register for accounts and use the services. After successful registration, the subjects continue to instruct the victims to deposit more money into the accounts provided by the subjects to participate in the "one night stand mission package".

After completing the task, the subject immediately added the victim to a closed group on Telegram with many other accounts, but in fact, the accounts in this group were all fake accounts of the subjects to gain the victim's trust and continue to deposit more money to do the task to satisfy his own curiosity. However, when the amount of money deposited increased, the subject continuously used the excuse that the victim had made a mistake and asked to deposit more money so that all the money could be withdrawn. When the victim could no longer deposit money, the subject quickly blocked contact and appropriated the deposited money. Victims of this trick are often shy and do not dare to report the incident to the police.

In the face of the above situation, to proactively prevent this type of crime, the Criminal Police Department of Vinh Phuc Provincial Police recommends that people need to be more vigilant against online dating applications that are popular and attracting many participants. This is an opportunity for bad guys to take advantage of emotions and defraud other people's property. When encountering such cases, people should not comply with the requests of the subjects and immediately report to the nearest police agency for handling measures according to the provisions of law.
