“Aspiration for Peace” has 5 volumes about 5 prominent stages that bear important historical marks of Vietnam. These are: The significance of the victory of the Tet Offensive and Uprising in 1968; Aspiration for peace and national reunification with important decisions leading to the victory in 1975; The 1975 Spring General Offensive to gain independence and freedom for the nation, completely liberate the South, and unify the country; The process of implementing the renovation policy, the country's achievements after 50 years; The Party's important decisions in the face of the new world situation.
Each episode of “Aspiration for Peace” is about 30 minutes long, containing precious images, documentary footage, and authentic stories from insiders and revolutionary leaders from the war until now, bringing viewers vivid footage and authentic perspectives on each period of the country.
In episode 1, the film brings to viewers images of the fierce destruction of war but the Vietnamese army and people still fought steadfastly. From the victory of Dien Bien Phu to repel the French colonialists, the Geneva Agreement of 1954 was signed until the general offensive and uprising of Tet Mau Than 1968. It was a journey of continuous fighting, with countless sacrifices, but our army and people, under the leadership of the Party, never fell, continuing many heroic campaigns from Dong Khoi to the Central Highlands, Mekong Delta, Cu Chi, Saigon - Gia Dinh... The historical turning point with the birth of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam, created a united and solid people's war, gradually leading to the general offensive and uprising of Tet Mau Than 1968.
To achieve peace, there were many hardships, sacrifices, and the blood of our army and people. The footage of episodes 2 and 3 brings to viewers images of Dien Bien Phu in the air in 1972, the negotiations leading to the Paris Agreement in 1973, to the unyielding journey of the liberation army cutting through Truong Son to support the South in the face of falling bombs and bullets, to the Great Victory in Spring 1975 that completely liberated the South and reunified the country. Each footage recreates the heroic spirit of our army and people. History is vividly recreated through footage and stories full of authenticity and emotion.
In episodes 4 and 5, Vietnam steadfastly overcame challenges and difficulties; the entire Party, the entire army, and the entire people united to bring the country to prosperity and happiness. The task of building the country after the war was not easy, but with all the faith and determination, our Party and State gradually built an independent and self-reliant Vietnam as it is today.
The documentary “Thirst for Peace” not only recreates the struggle for national independence and nation building over the past half century, but also pays tribute to those who have fallen and inspires today’s generation to continue building an independent, strong, and benevolent Vietnam.
