The working group has completed collecting DNA samples for 24 cases of relatives of 16 unidentified martyrs in the city. Among them are 10 martyrs' mothers, 13 martyrs' relatives and 1 Vietnamese Heroic Mother. To facilitate the martyrs' relatives, the City Police directly went to their homes to collect DNA samples. According to regulations, each martyr's family provides 2 DNA samples of relatives on the maternal side to serve the purpose of matching with the martyrs' remains data in the Martyrs' Gene Bank. By this method, the martyrs' identities will be determined scientifically and accurately. This is an important step forward in providing an accurate database for the work of "finding names" for martyrs, helping to bring heroic martyrs back to their families.
Over the years, the search and collection of martyrs' remains has always been identified as an important political task with profound humanitarian significance. To determine the information of unidentified martyrs, immediately after receiving instructions from the Ministry of Public Security, Can Tho City Police conducted a survey and notified the martyrs' families, ensuring that the sample collection process was accurate and timely.
