15 105mm guns were positioned at Bach Dang Wharf Park (District 1) facing the Saigon River.
According to reporters from Tin Tuc and Dan Toc newspaper on the afternoon of April 7, soldiers of Brigade 96 were urgently completing the final stages such as wiring, decorating flags and slogans around the artillery site.
The appearance of the cannons quickly attracted the attention of many people and tourists who came to visit and take souvenir photos.
The 105mm artillery position has been put into position at Bach Dang Wharf (District 1) in preparation for the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
Each cannon weighs about 4 tons.
The artillery position is placed on a flat, solid surface, so that when fired, it creates a consistent explosion sound.
According to the plan, in the upcoming celebration, the artillery force will use 18 105mm cannons, including 15 official cannons and 3 reserve cannons, to perform the 21-gun salute to the National Anthem of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Soldiers are completing slogans to hang at the artillery site.
Officers and soldiers of Brigade 96 are completing the remaining work at the artillery site.
In addition, the program will feature special performances by helicopter squadrons, YAK-130 and SU-30MK2. The highlight worth waiting for is the heat trap drop by the Su-30MK2 fighter, promising to bring an eye-catching performance, leaving a strong impression on the hearts of people across the country.
Many people and tourists came to admire and take pictures with the artillery site.
The guns are currently covered with protective tarpaulins.
At the artillery area, there are always officers and soldiers of Brigade 96 taking turns guarding.
