The US Secretary of State said that during the phone call, he and his Chinese counterpart Qin Gang discussed efforts to maintain communication channels, as well as bilateral and global issues.
Mr. Blinken emphasized during the phone call that maintaining open lines of communication is important for responsible management of US-China relations, to minimize miscalculation and unnecessary conflict. In addition, the US always seeks diplomatic solutions to address areas of mutual concern and potential areas of cooperation.
Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang said the US should stop interfering in China's internal affairs and respect Beijing's core concerns.
The Chinese side also expressed its hope that the two countries will reach consensus on promoting bilateral communication and cooperation. Mr. Qin Gang hopes that China-US relations will stabilize and return bilateral relations to a stable development path.
The phone call took place as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken plans to visit China this weekend.
