Returning to his homeland on a very special occasion after 50 years of national reunification, immersing himself in the atmosphere of reunion, pride and deep gratitude, overseas Vietnamese Le Anh Duc, who has been living and working at Google Asia Pacific Group, Singapore for the past 12 years, and is also the Head of the Science and Technology Subcommittee of the Vietnamese Liaison Committee in Singapore, said that he felt lucky to be one of 69 overseas Vietnamese participating in the Great Unity train to Truong Sa in the past week. He is now returning to Ho Chi Minh City to participate in the parade of the overseas Vietnamese community.

Overseas Vietnamese Le Anh Duc expressed his pride in living in a fiery atmosphere, with national flags and party flags hanging everywhere, and people gathering on both sides of the parade route to await the solemn and heroic moment of April 30 with radiant faces and reverence. "I feel very honored and proud to live in such historic moments, moments that may only happen once in a lifetime like this," Mr. Le Anh Duc shared.

Born in 1983, growing up and experiencing the country's difficult period before the renovation, Mr. Duc said he felt the huge transformation of Vietnam. In the past ten years, every year Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general have had positive changes, not only in the economy but also in the standard of living, culture and many aspects of life. Mr. Duc believes that Vietnam can be completely confident that it is doing very well in the era of rising up, to become a great power in the future.

According to Mr. Le Anh Duc, as an inseparable part of the Vietnamese people, the overseas Vietnamese community all over the world always carries within them a love for their homeland and the desire to contribute to building the Fatherland.

The overseas Vietnamese community always appreciates the Government and State of Vietnam for having very good policies, encouraging overseas Vietnamese to return to contribute to the development of Vietnam. With the intelligence, experience and resources accumulated during the process of studying and working abroad, overseas Vietnamese can contribute to the development of the country in many aspects. It is this knowledge and assets that will help Vietnam develop rapidly in the era of rising up.

Sharing his happiness and honor to be able to visit his homeland during these historic days, overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Xuan Canh in Germany said that he was extremely grateful to the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany for creating conditions for him, a son living far from his homeland, to set foot on the beloved S-shaped land on the occasion of the anniversary of the country's liberation. "I was moved and touched when I saw the elderly who had experienced the war still smiling brightly on the big festival day. I was proud to witness the younger generation continuing the tradition, firmly building and defending the Fatherland. The homeland has changed a lot, becoming more modern and vibrant, but the love for the country and the national spirit are still intact in every look and smile of the people," Mr. Canh shared.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Canh said that he always follows every step of the country's transformation with deep faith and pride. Every time he returns, he clearly feels the strong changes, from infrastructure, economy to people's lives. Carrying in his heart great expectations for a future Vietnam, both prosperous and humane, overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Xuan Canh shared: "I hope that Vietnam will continue to develop sustainably, not only strong in economy but also rich in culture, education and knowledge; becoming a country where every citizen has access to many opportunities to rise up, to live in a civilized and united society".

Mr. Canh expressed his hope that the young generation of Vietnam will not only be good at their profession, but also preserve their national identity, patriotism and dedication. He also believed that if given the right conditions, Vietnamese people, whether at home or abroad, can contribute to putting the country on the world map.

Sharing about the contributions of overseas Vietnamese to the homeland, Mr. Canh said that overseas Vietnamese are an important bridge in bringing knowledge, modern science and technology to Vietnam. Many experts and scientists of Vietnamese origin have been supporting research, teaching and technology transfer programs for domestic universities and research institutes. This is a valuable resource to help Vietnam improve its creative capacity and integrate more deeply into the global knowledge economy.

In addition, overseas Vietnamese are also a strong source of investment. Many overseas Vietnamese businessmen have returned to open businesses, bringing with them investment capital, advanced management skills and international networks, contributing to boosting the economy, creating jobs and developing key industries. Overseas Vietnamese also contribute to promoting the image of Vietnam to the world, preserving national culture abroad, and acting as "people's ambassadors", promoting cooperation between Vietnam and host countries. The attachment and contributions of overseas Vietnamese are living proof of the spirit of "remembering one's roots wherever one goes".

With appropriate encouragement and facilitation policies from the State, overseas Vietnamese will certainly continue to be an important part of the country's journey of sustainable development and integration.

For Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, an overseas Vietnamese in the Lao PDR, Liberation Day is not only a day of victory, but also a day for Vietnamese people, no matter where they are, to feel the sacred connection with their roots.

As a child far from home, Ms. Huyen said that she feels more deeply than ever the value of peace, of reunion and of the two words "homeland". She feels her heart is warmed, as if she has found a part of her soul that she left here. Living and working abroad, she never forgets her roots. Knowing that this year is the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, she has been looking forward to it for many months and has temporarily put aside her work to return to her homeland on this occasion, to immerse herself in the bustling atmosphere of this great holiday - where more than a hundred million Vietnamese hearts look in the same direction. She feels her heart warm and filled with sacred pride in being Vietnamese.

Ms. Huyen shared that our country has gone through many struggles against invaders and has been completely unified since April 1975. 50 years - a long enough time for the country to change. Vietnam is no longer a low-income country and is gradually moving towards the group of high-income countries. Every time she returns to her homeland, she is surprised to see a modern, youthful and vibrant Vietnam. Bustling cities, long highways, new industrial parks and urban areas have sprung up to replace the empty lots of the past. The homeland of Vietnam - once engulfed in the flames of war - is now shining with the light of peace, hope and development. The material and spiritual life of the people has been improved, the country's strength in all aspects has been raised, and the country's position and prestige are increasingly appreciated in the international arena.

With the strong development in all aspects of Vietnam as it is today, overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen believes that our country will develop even more. Vietnam will enter a new era, affirming its role and position in the international arena. Ms. Huyen, as well as all overseas Vietnamese around the world, always turn to the homeland, ready to contribute all resources to the homeland, contributing to realizing the aspiration to develop the country in the new era, the era of national development.

Besides, living and working abroad, overseas Vietnamese still preserve and spread the cultural features of the nation, teach the children of the next generations to understand the origin and history of Vietnam and constantly nurture the love of the homeland in themselves as well as many generations of overseas Vietnamese children around the world.

Finally, Ms. Huyen hopes that Vietnam will become more open, integrate more deeply but not dissolve, always promote internal strength, respect diversity and connect more closely with the Vietnamese community abroad.

50 years – Vietnam has come a long way. With overseas Vietnamese – children far from home – always looking towards the Fatherland, ready to contribute to continue writing the beautiful story of the nation in the new era.
