The Intensive Care Unit, formerly the Emergency Resuscitation Unit, has a history of formation and development closely linked to the history of Military Hospital 175 over the past 50 years. Considered the "heart" of the hospital, the Unit has always successfully completed its combat readiness, combat service, and emergency missions, pioneering in admission, emergency, treatment and health care for soldiers and people, making an important contribution to the cause of protecting and caring for the health of the community.

Previously, in 1985, the faculty was honored to receive the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces for its outstanding achievements in treating wounded and sick soldiers during the Southwestern border war.

The second time the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces was awarded to the Intensive Care Unit is a recognition of the tireless efforts of the medical staff in the work of admission, emergency, treatment, and health care for soldiers and people.

Especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Department has played a pivotal role in receiving and treating severe and critical patients, contributing significantly to the victory of the fight against the pandemic, including successfully implementing many technical innovations in clinical practice such as airway separation, alternating blood filtration, adsorption blood filtration, split ECMO technique...

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Tran Quoc Viet, Director of Military Hospital 175, said: To achieve this special achievement, in addition to promoting the heroic tradition, the strength of solidarity, the spirit of initiative, creativity, daring to think, daring to do and daring to take responsibility of the Intensive Care Department, the close and decisive leadership role from the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the hospital, there is also the consensus and joint efforts from the Departments, Divisions, Offices, Institutes, and Centers of Military Hospital 175 and the help of experts.

The hospital continues to improve the quality of services for patients, does a good job of combining military and civilian medicine, continues to perform well the task of ensuring emergency care at sea and on islands in the southern region, especially in the Truong Sa island district, DK1 platform and participates in United Nations peacekeeping activities. Along with that, building a strong and comprehensive department and hospital "exemplary model" with the motto "Bright in medical ethics, profound in medical theory, good in medical skills and solid in medical profession", doing better in taking care of the health of soldiers and people.

The Intensive Care Department also participates in training and developing high-quality human resources specializing in intensive care for the military medical sector in particular and the health sector nationwide; participates in training, managing, and providing medical personnel in coastal and island areas; participates in many scientific research topics at the State, Ministry, and hospital levels in many fields, especially researching issues related to improving the quality of pre-hospital emergency care, coastal and island medicine, aviation medicine, disaster medicine, etc.
