Mr. Nguyen Van Nhuan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, said: "The programs "Moonlight reflecting on the tower" and "Linh linh xu tram" are considered one of the cultural and artistic activities associated with the province's night-time economic development project, as well as the work of preserving and promoting cultural heritage values.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has organized an assessment, drawn lessons, and completed the organization plan, from which it has developed and implemented a monthly program with different themes throughout the year. Thereby, it will prioritize the exploitation of the good traditional cultural values associated with the Ponagar Tower relic to attract tourists.
Ponagar Tower is a complex of architectural works of the ancient Champa Kingdom, built from the 8th to the 13th century. This is a religious center worshiping Goddess Ponagar, the Mother of the Cham people. In the 17th century, the Vietnamese community continued to preserve and worship Thien YA Na Thanh Mau. The relic has special value in terms of architectural art and spiritual beliefs for the Vietnamese ethnic community.
In 1979, Ponagar Tower was ranked as a national historical and cultural relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism). In 2012, Ponagar Tower Festival was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Ponagar Tower is a convergence point of traditional cultural values of the process of cultural exchange, integration and interweaving of the two ethnic groups of Vietnam - Cham in history, a symbol of national unity, contributing to the cultural diversity of the Vietnamese ethnic community. This is the pride of Khanh Hoa people, a precious gem in the treasure of Vietnamese cultural heritage that we need to cherish and preserve for today's and future generations.
