Durian price over 100,000 VND/kg expected to contribute 3 billion USD in export revenue

Durian prices are currently very positive and are likely to continue to increase from now until the end of the year, bringing good sales for Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports.

The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association said that from now until the end of the year, the fruit and vegetable industry will focus on the Northeast Asian market. From there, along with potential markets such as China, Korea, Japan, etc., it will help Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports reach the target of 7 billion USD in 2024.

The Chinese, Korean and Japanese markets are dominating the import of fruits and vegetables from Vietnam. Specifically, China spent 2.161 billion USD to import fruits and vegetables; Korea: 164 million USD; Japan: 98 million USD. Notably, Korea from the 3rd position among the countries importing the most fruits and vegetables from Vietnam has risen to the 2nd position, pushing the United States down to the 3rd position.

According to Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen - General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, durian will continue to bring in large export value in 2024, followed by other valuable fruits such as dragon fruit, banana, mango, jackfruit, coconut, lychee, longan, watermelon... These are strategic products, contributing to helping Vietnam's fruit and vegetable export turnover reach 6.5 - 7 billion USD this year.

Of which, durian is expected to bring in 3 billion USD, dragon fruit will bring in about 600 - 650 million USD; mango about 250 million USD; coconut about 240 - 250 million USD; jackfruit about 200 million USD...

Mr. Nguyen Phuc Nguyen also said that the price of durian has now exceeded 100,000 VND/kg, which is a very positive price, and is likely to continue to increase from now until the end of the year. The durian output from the Central Highlands is still very large, while neighboring countries are past the harvest season.

Vietnamese durian will dominate the market and bring good sales for Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports in the last months of the year.
