Sharing at the Conference on experience in taking advantage of the "wave" of digital transformation, promoting growth of over 8% for state-owned enterprises, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB) Luu Trung Thai said that businesses need to have the same working mindset and apply methods as technology companies.

On that basis, to have the largest customer base, MB invests about 100 million USD in technology every year for 7 consecutive years, applying the latest technology to solve the problem of having customers quickly. In the past 5 years, MB has had 5-7 million new customers every year, leading the market in terms of number of transactions and number of new customers entering the system.

"We also use the systems that technology companies are working on, apply them to MB, making MB's revenue from digital transformation increase 3 times compared to normal," Mr. Luu Trung Thai emphasized.

According to MB's leaders, we need to prioritize digital transformation opportunities, large technology projects, and new platform projects for state-owned enterprises, thereby promoting the leadership of these units.

Second, allow state-owned enterprises to have the same salary regime as private enterprises, from which state-owned enterprises will rely on revenue and profit to invest in digital transformation.

There must be a breakthrough in data and infrastructure.

As a large enterprise in the field of information technology and telecommunications in the country, Major General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel), said that in the process of formation and development, the Group always determined to turn danger into opportunity to rise up.

Consulting on solutions for state-owned enterprises to pioneer digital transformation and promote growth in the current context, Major General Tao Duc Thang said that to quickly transform digitally, we need to pay attention to 6 key contents.

The first is to build processes and institutions when switching to a digital environment due to differences, which means building processes, legal documents and accompanying institutions.

The second is a breakthrough in terms of data, which means that ministries, branches and localities have to edit documents. The number of documents that need to be edited is huge, so it is necessary to determine which documents need to be digitized, which documents need to be edited, and which documents need to be archived.

Third is the breakthrough in infrastructure, to connect in the digital environment there must be good connection and speed, a storage system, fast, efficient, safe calculation, and terminal devices.

Fourth, digital platforms need to be put into operation and exploited, which requires not only digital transformation by businesses but also the active participation of leaders and professional staff of that agency or unit.

Fifth, it is necessary to ensure security and safety in cyberspace, ensuring that information is not leaked, lost, or stolen.

Finally, the human issue, when the interface on the digital environment has been designed to be user-friendly, civil servants and public employees need to raise awareness of digital transformation.

Viettel Group's leaders also expressed their desire to soon carry out the tasks set out in Resolution No. 71/NQ-CP of the Government on amending and updating the Government's Action Program to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.

At the same time, it is recommended that after the documents are signed, we need to connect businesses so that we can go global.

Mr. Dang Hoang An, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN)

Ready for double-digit growth scenarios

Mr. Dang Hoang An, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), also affirmed that the first and foremost task of the industry is to contribute to promoting economic growth by ensuring sufficient electricity supply for economic growth at a rate of 8% or higher, ready for double-digit growth scenarios.

Under the direction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, we have built a scenario for this year of growth of 11% to 13%. With current calculations, after 1 quarter, we can rest assured about electricity supply, if there are no unusual or risky factors.

Second, EVN continues to promote investment in power infrastructure, including source projects assigned in the Power Plan VIII and power grid projects. In 2023, EVN invested VND 84,000 billion; in 2024, it disbursed VND 112,892 billion, completed the 360 MW Ialy Hydropower Plant expansion and energized 216 projects, and started 102 projects from 110 kV to 500 kV.

"This year, EVN continues to maintain a high target, with a total investment volume of about 110,000 billion VND. The Ministry of Finance's report stated that last year, 19 state-owned corporations and groups invested 160,000 billion VND, of which EVN alone invested 112,892 billion VND. We consider this a very important task to ensure electricity supply for localities," the EVN representative emphasized.

Regarding digital transformation application, EVN has been implementing the digital transformation program for many years, with the advantage of a widespread fiber optic cable system, connecting to all district-level units across the country. Currently, all 110 kV and 220 kV transformer stations have been completely unmanned, reaching over 97%.

This year, 100% of 220 kV and 110 kV substations will be completely unmanned. The Group is also converting 500 kV substations (35 substations) to unmanned mode.

All power plants have remote control automation systems, and provincial power companies have remote control centers. Operational dispatching is being modernized.

"The important thing is that we are mastering the technology, not buying foreign products in the field of control and automation," said Mr. Dang Hoang An.

However, EVN Group leaders also acknowledged that the most difficult part of digital transformation is improving internal processes. Currently, EVN is mainly developing its own solutions and really wants IT corporations and enterprises to have more products and solutions to serve the management of enterprises.
