Apple is expected to release iOS 18.3 to iPhone users after a period of beta testing next week. Although not a major update, iOS 18.3 still brings a number of new features, improvements and notable bug fixes.
iOS 18.3 update will be released with many expected features |
Here are some of the new features expected in iOS 18.3:
Notification Summary has been changed
One of the biggest improvements in the iOS 18.3 update is the Notification Summary feature. First introduced with iOS 18, the feature makes it easier for users to manage and review notifications, messages, and news headlines. However, the feature has also faced criticism due to some shortcomings.
In iOS 18.3, Apple promises improved notification management, making messages more relevant and less annoying. iPhone users can also turn off Notification Summary for specific apps right from the lock screen.
Visual Intelligence Upgraded
Exclusive to iPhone 16, the Visual Intelligence feature adds the ability to recognize animals and plants and allows users to add events to the calendar from posters or flyers.
Upgraded ability to create personalized Genmoji directly
The iOS 18.3 update promises to upgrade the ability to create personalized Genmoji directly from the emoji menu via a new “+” button. This feature will help simplify the process, eliminating unnecessary steps, thereby making it easier for iPhone users to access one of Apple’s most exciting creations.
Calculator app improvements
The iOS 18.3 update will bring back the ability to repeat the last calculation when pressing the equal sign twice, which is useful for calculating compound interest or repeated calculations.
In addition, iOS 18.3 also includes some important bug fixes on iPhone such as fixing the keyboard disappearing when using Siri, fixing the audio playback continuing after closing Apple Music.
There are also reports that Apple is developing a Black Unity campaign for 2025, based on lines of code found in tvOS 18.3. However, the iPhone maker has yet to make an official announcement.
Although there are references to robot vacuum support in the source code, the feature doesn't appear to be coming to the iOS 18.3 update. iPhone users may have to wait until iOS 18.4 to experience this new feature.
